    Hi Ladies,

We have done almost everything w/childproofing our house except for our sliding glass door. However, we did buy a lock where they can't open the sliding door. But the real question is what IF I wanted to leave it open so we can have breeze coming through or you never open it? I just thought they sell those mesh screen protector that can be put on the screen sliding door? (So they don't rip the screen up)

    Any help?

When we bought our house, our screen had a metal protector on it (the previous owner had a dog). It ended up working perfectly for two babies to push up against. It only covers the bottom half of the screen door.

We actually had to protect our screen from the cats, not our boys :) Screening comes in different thicknesses. My husband removed the screen and replaced it with a very heavy duty screening (can buy at Home Depot or Lowes). Even the cats can't scratch through it.

Thanks, I guess we'll have to open the window (in the family room) instead of the patio sliding door (dining area). Because I like getting breeze when I am cooking dinner. I knew we may be able to leave it open as I fear they'll get out and run around in our back yard even we have a fenced yard.

    Thanks for your input,

I posted a similar question about a month ago about windows. I got some great responses and purchased "WINDOW SASH LOCKS" (check your local Home Depot or hardware store) I was able to get a set of two locks for $3. The best part is that it didn't involve drilling into our window frame at all.

Here's a link to that thread I posted. There are links with pictures and online purchase options.
