Okay, both of my babies (but primarily DS) are big spitter uppers. The pedi thought that DS maybe has mild reflux, but he does not appear to be in any pain or cry, etc., so he is labeled a "happy spitter" and aside from lifestyle changes we are just waiting for him to outgrow it. They offered him medication which didn't affect the spitting up at all and really it doesn't even appear to bother him. But now that he is sleeping up in his crib for all naps and bedtime, I find I am having to change the crib sheet 2-3 times per day (and that is with moving him to a clean spot a few times inbetween). It is a PITA to change that darn crib sheet. When he was little we had a sleep positioner and I would lay a burp cloth on it, but now he rolls onto his belly to sleep and moves all around so I am afraid to leave something in there that he may wrap around his head or something. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can safely protect the sheet, my back is killing me from changing that sheet so often!

    TIA!

I have read from other TSers that these are a big help, I think you can even put several on at a time and pull off the top one when it is too icky.
I feel for you my babies finally are past the heavy spitting...I think it was my #1 of most frustrating baby issues, a slight 2nd goes to newborn gas!

I used to tuck a receiving blanket into the sides of the crib so it was secure. Saved me a lot of time. I used to be changing the sheets constantly too, with my cute little pukers. Luckily, they stopped with the "spitting" around 7 months. Phew!!

Sheet Savers are made for this problem! We have used them from the start. Neither of my kids are big spitters, but on the occasions they have, I just replace the sheet saver and avoid the major hassle of changing the entire sheet. We have about 10 or 12, so there's always a clean replacement ready if needed!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ultimate crib sheets! Best money ever spent!!! Here's another trick from a twin mom friend of mine. Take the whole mattress out and put it on the floor. Put on a mattress pad, then crib sheet, then repeat that over and over until you have 3 crib sheets and mattress pads layered on it. Now take the whole thing and put it back in the crib. You may need to wedge it in because of the layers. I also put an ultimate crib sheet back on top. Now there are 4 different changes of sheets in there! Because my mattress pads are very flat, this does not add a lot of bulk to the mattress either. Hope that helps!

I used to use the ultimate crib sheet on top, but since I didn't have bumpers on the girls started getting very interested in the snap-elastic things used to fasten it to the slats. As soon as they started playing with those (I think around 6-7 months), I started layering sheets like a pp suggested. I put on the waterproof matress pad, a sheet, the ultimate crib sheet (unfastened with the snaps tucked around the edges of the mattress), and then another sheet. Since my big spitter is getting MUCH better (knocking furiously on wood), this works pretty well for us. GL!

Such great suggestions, I went to BRU today, and was debating between the ultimate crib sheet and the "sheet saver" pads which are a bit smaller, I opted for the sheet saver pads b/c they were buy one get one 50% off and DS (the real spitter) tends to always sleep in the same corner of the crib, I'm not sure how well they will work for DD as she is all over the crib, but I may try the layering sheets things or break down and pay the $17 for the ultimate crib sheet.
