I've ordered a Kiddopotamous swaddle blanket for each baby and I'm wondering how many of these you recommend that I have on hand? Taking into account leaky diapers and spit ups, would 2 per baby be enough? Also, what fabric do you girls like on these - cotton, fleece, or flannel?

I think I've got almost everything I need now (Thank you target.com!!), just need the babies to cook for a little longer!

So long as you're doing laundry pretty much every day (which I have been for 10 months) you should be just fine. I like the stretchy cotton ones. My babies were 6-2 and 6-9 when they were born and they were WAY too small for the kiddopotamous things for a while. We used receiving blankets (the Kushies large size) and they worked like a charm. Swaddling is a wonderful way to make your babies feel secure and extend their sleep duration. If you haven't already, watch The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD (or read the book) - it's great and will teach you all about swaddling. I was so good I was teaching the nurses at the hospital after watching that DVD!

We used the cotton ones - found the fleece ones too warm (but we were in the tropics at the time). But, we also found it was easier to put on something heavier if need be under. A lot of times, our girls' slept naked with just the cotton swaddle.

As per the pp, we also just used receiving blankets for awhile until they were large enough for the SwaddleMe's. Then, we used those until about 4 to 4 1/2 months old. Loved them.

I think two should be fine - we actually only had one per baby and did fine. We did do laundry every day (and still do), so if I had to, I could throw it in and it'd be ready by bedtime, but I don't remember actually having too many leaky diapers/spitup issues at night on them. (maybe we did, it's a fog).

    HTH.

I think two for each is fine... we got by with one for each and never really had a problem. You'll probably be doing lots of laundry each day so I'm sure you'll always have a clean one on hand!

IMO, I would try one first to see how they like them. I got one for each and found out I hated them and so did they. Mine are still swaddled to this day for night and naps but I just use a regular recieving blanket. I found the Kiddo's were just too warm. They would get overheated easily...but then again we bought the fleece ones. You would think they would be okay since I live in Ohio and it can get really cold here. I'm glad I only opted for one. Then, I found the Miracle blankets and I wish I would have bought those first. You'll see how it helps from the baby breaking out of the swaddle. Stick to the ones you got for now. Having twins I've realized buying one of each to try it is best.

I found I needed 2 for each bambino - loved the miracle blanket!! Others didn't hold my wiggly babies tight enough!

4 total (2 a piece) worked fine for us. I did laundry almost every day anyways!

I love those swaddler blankets--they are great!

We used the fleece ones b/c it was cold here, but I orginally had one per baby, and went out and bought 2 more so I could have one to wash and one to wear. I love love love them, they worked great in the beginning for us.

i had spitters so had two for each but - i too didnt' like the kiddpotomus ones - they just broke right out of them. I found investing in the miracle blankets worth every penny - and you could see if you can get them on craigslist or on the shopping forum here (in fact i just sold mine or i'd offer them!)

and yes, you will be doing ENDLESS laundry......we're almost ten months and it's still practially a daily thing. the worst part isn't doing it, it's PUTTING IT AWAY!!

cotton -- the fleece are too warm, i think (and we live in new england). you dont want the babes to overheat. i agree that the miracle blanket is better though. our guy busts right out of the kiddo ones, but it's pretty impossibe to bust out of the MBs!

Just piping in give my HUGE endorsement of the miracle blankets. We tried every kind before them (Kiddpotamus, Halo sacks with swaddle wings and on and on). The miracle blankets were worth every penny!!

We only had one per child and I have spitters. When they were small enough to be swaddled (up until almost 5 months), we never had a diaper leak issue or spit up issue while sleeping! I would wash them during one of their awake times, or else I'd use the less ideal swaddle during a nap and wash them then.

    Good Luck!

We use Miracle Blankets, I LOVE them! We have 4 total, and that number works well because we have 1 on each baby and the other 2 are in the laundry!

We just used receiving blankets and never had a swaddle blanket. The girls were always little burritos too. :)

For Dax we got two Halo sleepsacks with swaddle but he didn't end up liking to be swaddled after about 2 weeks old.

Those swaddling blankets did not work for my beebs at all. They broke out of them easily. I went with The Miracle Blankets and I had 4 total (2 for each kid).

We have so many of these! We don't use them anymore, though because they are 8 months now and we weaned them off swaddling. Actually, if you would like them, I'd be glad to give em all to you for free! They are all size smalls (7-14 pounds), and a few preemie ones in pink. We have blue ones, green ones, yellow ones, pink ones, one with airplanes on it....lol...We have so many because we live in an apt. with no washer/dryer so we did the wash only a few times per week. We had big refluxers too, so we went through 2-3 a DAY each when they were newborns...Feel free to let me know if you want them! Just PM me and I'll be happy to send them off to someone who needs them :)
