I ordered the Goodnite Lite after reading all of the rave reviews here, so hopefully someone can answer my question. Where are you plugging yours in? I didn't realize that this is designed to plug directly into an electrical outlet. All of the outlets in the boys' room are covered by furniture or too low for them to see from their beds. Also, even at 4yo I think they would unplug it if it is accessable. I'm trying to decide if I should send it back and look for something else, or rig something to hang it on the wall. Just wanted to find out what others are doing.

I have had a little bit of a problem with the girls taking it out of the outlet. We have 2 outlets that are on the girls' level and are not covered by furniture, but one is at the side of Amelia's bed so that wasn't going to work. The one we are using is right next to the footboard of Lily's bed. I caught them a couple of times trying to pull it out of the outlet, and also I babysit a 18 month old little boy and I have to take the lite out when he is here b/c he pulls it out.

I've just been telling them repeatedly not to touch it and they listen pretty well. One morning I came in and found the lite on the time out bench but that was only once and we've had it plugged in since Christmas. If you don't have an outlet that is visible then I don't think you'd be able to use it.

We use a surge protector so it's long like an extension cord so i can put it wherever I want to. Works great for us. My kids would not unplug it tho.

Ours sits on their nightstand between their two beds, and is plugged into the wall right behind it. If there weren't an outlet there I'd have used an extension cord. Mine have never once tried to unplug it or anything else in their room.

Thanks ladies. I think we will try to use an extension cord and see of we can hang it, or set it on their armoire. The boys' generally don't unplug cords from the outlets, but with this being the lite itself plugged in I do think I would have an issue with one of them unplugging it. I would rather just have it out of reach than worry that they can't resist temptation.

omega, thanks for asking this! i was wondering the same thing, as we're about to order one, as well.... i'd love to know how the extension cord works for you. mine try to pull at any cord they see (this started in the nicu!) so i was worried about where to plug it in, as well. all our outlets are a foot off the ground.

i'd love to know how it works out for you if you happen to have time (and can recall that i asked, which i don't expect you to, lol!).

    :), jl

    Jeri Lynn,

I will certainly let you know how the extension cord works when I get it set up. I haven't had a chance to get it done over the last few days, but hopefully I'll get it done soon.
