I was just wondering when your twins started to realize there was another baby right there next to them? :)

My twins are cooing and ahhing and smiling right now, it is so fun to watch them. And each of them will look at you and respond and each of them will even look at their bigger sister.

So they are definitely more aware of their environments. But I haven't seen them looking at each other yet and am curious as to when other moms saw this?

Around 3 mos we started feeding them next to each other and laying them next to each other under their play gym - see pic below. That's when they started to look at each other and accidentally hit each other when they flail. Now they'll touch each other and hold each others hands on the floor, but I think it's more the fact that they are grabbing something and that they don't realize yet that they are next to or looking at another baby. I can't wait for them to start interacting.

They noticed eachother at probably 3.5 months but just the last month they have started really being interested in eachother. Now they are constantly holding hands and grabbing at eachother's faces and ears. They are starting to entertain eachother a little bit now, I hope that gets to be more and more you know what I mean!

Ditto! It was the SWEETEST thing I have ever seen!! They were sitting in a chair next to each other and dh and Iwere rocking them and talking to them and Annalise turned to Evie, smiled and "talked" to her! Oh, I am so glad I witnessed it!! There have been more moments like these over the last month!!

Mine didnt really notice each other all that much until they started sitting up. Occasionally they would glance at each other in the high chair but I really dont think they cared. But once they were being seated on the floor next to each other all the time I think they got used to it.

I don't think mine really cared to interact w/ the other till about 5 months! Up until then, they'd just look at them like "WHO is getting Mommy's attention while I'm not??" It's like they were checking out the competition- just eyeing each other like he was an alien or something! But around 5 months they started laughing/talking together. Now it's fun, well, when they're not pinching or pulling at each other!

Yeah, I think it was 5 or 6 months. The would start to hold hands all the time and "talk" to each other. Now I have caught them holding hands and with the free hand reaching over to hold that hand too! If hey can't see on another they look for each other.

Although from the beginning if one was crying and the other one didn't think we were coming fast enough, she would cry too. Once she had seen her sister get cared for she would stop crying.

mine definitely noticed each other around 2.5 months and i have video proof of them looking at each other, "talking" to each other. however, it is not consistent in that they don't notice each other all the time. even now, when i am b-feeding them, they hold hands all the time, but i am not sure they realize they are holding their sister's hand. still, that first time was the COOLEST moment!! sometimes i will hold one in the crib above the other, so that they can see each other clearly and they will start to coo back and forth. they also like mirrors for that reason (they're 3 months this week!)

I used to laugh in the beginning because we would put them face to face and they would look absolutely everywhere, but at each other.

I will never forget New Years Eve last year. I had them in one crib so I could put jammies on and I look over and they are looking at each other!! They turned 4 months old the next day and started looking at each other more.

I can't remember when it started, but it feels like it's been awhile at this point. they get about 45 minutes in the crib together in the morning while i am getting ready for work and they "talk" and hold hands and seem to interact quite a bit. now, whether they realize what they're doing or not, I have no idea - but it is SUPER CUTE!

Cool - I'm looking forward to when my twins discover each other and another 1-3 months!

Today I held Sadie up to a mirror to see what she would do, and she seemed to see an image and smile, but it may have been the build up from the burp that escaped soon after.

    Thanks for sharing your stories!

With mine it's been about the last month or so. I did what a lot of PPs said, I would try to force them to look at each other and they REFUSED! They looked anywhere and everywhere else!

But recently since they've been rolling all around each other, they've gotten to this point where they stop rolling and stare at each other ... and Jake will smile at her and make some noises, and she will do it back ... it made me cry the first time they did it. I know, what a sap!

They still ignore each other sometimes, but definitely grab for each other a lot more than they did. We also play this game where Jake is lying on the bed on his back, and my DH will bouncy Hailey on his belly ... so she's like standing on him ... and they both LOVE it! Jake will give these big belly laughs out loud and hailey will giggle and smile ... love it!
