For those of you that have had your twins already, how did your twins weigh in relation to what the growth scans showed??

Just curious if the babies tended to weigh more or less when they were born compared to what they estimated they would weigh.

Also if anyone had a big surprise with the weight...I know they thought my daughter weighed about 6-7 lbs. and she actually weighed 8.8lbs, just wondering what to expect with these little ones!

I think it really depends on how good your tech is.

Mine were about 1-2 ounces off from the estimate, so VERY close.

Mine were about a 1/2 pound less than the scan weight.
They ended up being 6lbs even & 4lbs 10oz :good:

I had an u/s the night night before I delivered and it was only off by a couple oz. at the most. I agree that the accuracy has a lot to do with how skilled the tech is performing the scan.

Mine were spot on ... 2lbs11oz at 26 weeks (both), 4lbs5oz and 4lbs6oz at 30 weeks, lower 6lbs range at 34 weeks, born 7lbs10oz and 7lbs11oz at 38w2d. My oldest was estimated 3900 grams (upper 8lbs range), a few days before ... she was born 9lbs2oz at 41w2d.

However, it's usually the other way around, from what I hear.

6-7 pounds doesn't seem very accurate at all regardless of what the final weight ends up being- the range is way too broad. When they measured DD the day before she was born, they said 7lbs13oz. When they weighed her when she was born, she was 7lbs9oz.

I had an u/s the day before and they said the girls were 7#7oz and 5#5oz. When they were born the were 7#9oz and 5#3oz, so pretty close to the scan.

My girls were within an oz or two of their last u/s. I had all my u/s done by the same OB on the same machine every week though so she knew my babies very well and was diligent about getting the measurements correct.
