We are taking them for their 6 month check up tomorrow. My DD has seemed to pick up quite a bit of weight since her 4 month check up. Both of them eat the same amount my DS doesn't seem to gain as much weight. At their 4 month DD weighed 14.11 lbs and 24 3/4 inches longs. DS weighed 14.8 lbs and 25 1/4 inches long. I weighed them tonight and DD weighs 19 lbs and DS weighs 18 lbs. DS seems to have gotten much more height though. When I measured DD she has really gotten much taller. DD has just rolls after rolls and DS is tall and slender. I know they have different body types but everyone always looks at them and go "Oh my she is so much bigger" Anybody else have a similar situation? I just wonder if she is gaining too much weight too fast? TIA

The weights seem to be fine to me! But I'm no doctor either! My daughter at her 6mth was 16.9 lbs-and she has rolls! Her brothers were probably 9 months old before they hit 16lbs! And what she weighed at BIRTH is what Anthony weighed at ONE month. All kids are different! They all grow different, have different statures, etc. My boys are now over 2, and one is 30lbs and the other is 27lbs and there is a 3inch difference in height!

My dd twin is about 3 lbs heavier than my ds twin now. At 6 months, her curve was no longer "curving", it was heading vertical, so we cut back on her formula intake a bit (watered hers down a little more than normal) and increased solids to 2 meals a day. By 9 months she was now "curving" again and everything had balanced out :)

I just checked, and at 4 months my dd was 16 lbs, and my ds was 14.4 lbs. At 6 months my dd was 19.2 lbs and my ds was 18.4 lbs. Right there where yours are :)

Both my girls were born heavier than both my boys, and my older dd has been 90+% for height and weight since birth! Some kids are big, and some are smaller!

Yes same exact here. DD lost a lot of weight upon leaving hospital and at 7 months she is a chunky(rolls and rolls) 18 pounds versus her brothers 16 pounds at last appt. My doctor said she is healthy and looks great, not gaining too much, as I had the same question. He said his wife states boys have "testosterone poisoning" and they just never do as well as girls. He stated boys slower and usually have more delays, very normal. Good luck at your appt! Both babies sound a great weight to me!

I wouldn't worry about it too much but certainly bring it up with your pedi at your appointment and they can show you the weight chart and advise as to whether the weight gain is too fast or not. It could also just be a difference in body type as you have already surmised. My Ava is about 2lbs heavier than her sister Vivian and much longer. Ava is in 9-12 month clothes and Viv is still in 6-9 month clothes. At their 4 month appointment Ava was in the 50th percentile for weight and Viv was in the 10th percentile. Although she weighs less she eats as much as her sister and has gained weight steadily since she was born (at just under 5lbs). So the pedi just thinks she will be on the smaller side. Not sure where she got it from considering DH is 6'3" and I am 5'9"!! So try not to worry - your LOs are adorable btw and seem healthy. Enjoy!!

I wouldnt worry either. I think it sounds fine to me. Lots of girls are bigger than boys.
