I'll try to make this as brief as possible. I tend to be a little long-winded...like y'all haven't noticed.

I was gaining weight pretty good in the beginning, but around 16 weeks, I came down with gastroenteritis (not sure what caused it) and spent 14 days constantly throwing up. I was severely dehydrated and couldn't eat anything for two weeks. So, I lost 12lbs during that period between 16-19 weeks. Thankfully, the boys did wonderfully through it all and I'm sure that's part of the reason it took so long to get better.

Anyway, I went to my regularly scheduled appointment on Monday and was shocked to see that I'd lost a pound, which put my total at 10lbs for the entire pregnancy. I've been trying to eat and even added Instant Breakfast every morning to get an extra "boost." I swear I do NOT excersise, I think I'm allergic to it.

So...did anyone else not gain very much? I honestly have no idea how much the boys weigh, but she says they look great and everything is fine. Not that I'm thrilled about putting on the pounds, but I'd like to make sure we're all healthy by the time I go into labor.

I have only gained 14 lbs so far and am at 26 weeks. The girls are growing at a good rate. I think that is all that matters but I understand your concerns, because I share them.

I've only put on 6 lbs so far -- and nothing the last 6 weeks or so. I eat like there's no tomorrow -- and the boys are measuring in the 50th percentile - so i'm not too worried. My peri was a little concerned, until we went over what i'm eating -- and he said -- i'm eating the right things, the right amount, so if i'm not gaining, that's what's "supose to" happen. As long as the babies are growing, you are just fine!

I've gained 10 pounds so far and still in my pre-pregnancy jeans. So, it's all in my belly. As long as your babies are growing well, I wouldn't worry.

Shoot, I can't relate to any of you! At 26 weeks I had already gained 30 pounds. I was really worried that the doctor would put me on a strict diet but he hasn't been concerned with the gainage and he is pleased with the health of the boys and me.

I'm at a net loss of ten lbs. going into the second tri. I lost 13 when I was throwing up everything I ate, then gained a few, lost a few, gained a few.

I am really hoping the weight gain kicks in soon!!

I am 29 weeks and have gained 12 pounds, 5 in the last 3 weeks and I am very happy about that my babies are 3lb 70z and 3lb12 oz and I am all belly. In the beginning i was concerned but they are growing at a good rate to me. My doctor said I may not gain much at all and be smaller after I deliver than I was when I got pregnant......fine with me ;) You will be alright, just keep eating when you are hungry.

I would definately talk to your doctor about it. I would think that if the babies are growing fine and things look good with them they will not be too worried about the loss of weight. Obviously you know you should be gaining more weight so find out from your doctor what he/she recommends for you to do so in a healthy manner. Good luck!

Pre-pregnancy I was 64 inches tall and weighed 142lbs. I only gained 22lbs my entire pregnancy. At first a the doctors were worried, but I ate and ate! I craved fruits and veggies, absolutely no meat! I added peanut butter to get some protein, but still the weight just didn't come. I did the breakfast shakes and everything and nothing. My babies weighed 5lbs 5oz and 4lbs 12oz, both were 18 3/4 inches long. They were perfectly healthy and I felt the hospital weighing 138lbs! I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you are eating!

    Thanks y'all!
To be honest, the last few days I haven't felt very good so my appetite has been kinda blah. But, I've definitely been trying to eat well and keep up with the calories. I'll try to get some more in the next few weeks and see if that helps. I gained about 40lbs with DS2 and trust me, there's plenty of "meat" on me...I just can't believe my weight gain has been so slow.

I'd been gaining weight like crazy (30 pounds by week 22) then I lost a pound and a half last doc visit. Nurse said it's cuz of the heat.

I am so glad you started this post! I've been worried about the same thing. I have only gained 15 lbs so far, but had my own week of "stomach bug" at 15 weeks. I eat a lot of healthy foods, but mainly fruits and veggies. My doctor said it's nothing to worry about. Before getting pregnant, I was 150lb and 5'3 so I like to think that my boys have plenty of already stored fat to feast on! :D

You should ask your doctor what percentile your twins are in weight wise. If you have had an ultrasound within the past month they will know. Don't be shocked by numbers like 35%, they only worry about the babies if they are below the 10th percentile.

I have lost a pound thus far in my pregnancy. I am eating healthy food but can't eat much at a sitting. I eat every time I'm hungry. I get as much protein as possible.

My last pregnancy (singleton) I went to 38 wks and gained only 5lbs. My son was 8lbs 10oz and perfectly healthy.

I am overweight to begin with and my doctor told me that I should only gain about 25-35lbs. But I'm not concerned with weight. I eat when I am hungry and I don't over do it (stuff myself till I'm uncomfortable)

The babies are measuring right on target too.

As of my last appointment (7/10), I had gained about 4lbs...not sure how much since then. I was nauseous all the time during the 1st three months, now I noticed that I am hungrier, which I guess is a good thing. I just hope to have a healthy weight for myself and the babies.

Please don't feel horrible, we all go through pregnancy differently. I couldn't eat any meat or really fatty foods. It made me sick. I wanted all fruits and veggies. I once ate three oranges in under 10 minutes. As long as you aren't limiting yourself your body will tell you what it wants. Please don't ever feel bad, I'm sure you are beautiful and you are doing what is best for your babies!

    Okay...y'all PLEASE don't feel bad!
Honestly, you're in the normal range for weight gain and trust me when I say that you will lose at least 60% of it very quickly. Even faster if you're breastfeeding. I gained 100lbs with DS1! But, I gained less than half with DS2 and lost it all within a month.

Seriously. I'm worried about only gaining this much. My clothes don't fit anyway, but really...you're going to give birth to happy, healthy babies! That's the most important thing! I promise my goal wasn't to make anyone feel badly about how much they've gained or not gained. I'm just concerned because I'm NOT. Trust me, it's not fun on this end.

I've gained a total of 52 pounds at 37 weeks. I'm 5' 7 tall and my doc hasn't been concerned about the gain at all. Probably cos I needed to put on some weight pre=pregnancy. I'm feeling good about myself as I know it is good for the babies....hubby wants big healthy boys!! I didn't gain much in 1st tri due to all day sickness but after that I started packing up on grubs...am also taking liquid breakfast as a boost.

To be induced on 3/8/07...trying all possible ways of going into labor naturally :p

Don't feel bad sistah, I'm right there with ya! This is my first pg and I've gained around 43lbs. My girls are always in the top 80th percentile for their weight, so I don't feel bad at all! I have a friend that was 118 pre-pg and delivered the babies at 187! She had two healthy baby girls and was able to get back to her normal weight very quickly. It's funny how everyone gains so differently, but make sure you aren't too hard on yourself!
