How do you recommend I do it? Start with one twin and see how it goes? Start with my spitter, or ny non-spitter? How long should I give it to see if it's better/worse/no change? Switch them both at the same time?

I'm not switching necessarily because there are problems. It's a much cheaper formula, so I figure I may as well try it. I also wouldn't mind if it helped tame the spit-up!

my dr. suggested i do half of our current formula with half of the new kind for a few days and then eventually all of the new formula

  4. Dr's also recommend that you try the formula for 2 weeks before switching again

I actually didn't switch until my oldest until she was on baby food. This way I figured she wouldn't be as likely to notice! And I did the normal - 1/2 and 1/2 and gradually increased it.
Compare the ingredients on the generic to what you are using. We use the Member's Mark from Sam's club and it is the exact same ingredients as Enfamil. We were able to switch back and forth when the twins were strictly on formula with no problems.

If you go to the Nestle Good Start website they have a page on there that gives a schedule for switching formula. It's a pretty long one though... when we switched we did it over 2 days and started with mostly the current formula and a little of the new formula in one bottle, next bottle use a little more new formula and a little less current formula, and keep doing this gradually until you've completely switched over to the new. We did it for both babies at once (i think it would be too complicated having different formulas for each baby!).

I switched a lot because I wanted to use all the free formula I got. I always did it gradually by replacing one ounce of their old formula with one ounce of the new formula every day. The girls never noticed the difference. The main reason I did it gradually is because formulas don't all taste the same and I didn't want them to spit it out because of the new flavor.

When we switched to Enfamil AR we just did it...no mixing with old stuff and everything was fine. Also, if this helps, when we were traveling to NY over the holidays. I ran out of formula and couldn't find the Enfamil AR in the stores on the road so I bought ready made regular Similac and they drank that for the drive and everything was fine, no diarrhea, spit up, gassiness or anything....don't stress it, it will be fine!
