Question about sleeping/milestones for ID twins

For those with ID twins...a couple questions. One DD sleeps quite well and goes to sleep so much easier than the other. She wakes up less and doesn't need her paci as much. How can they be so different in this area? It must be based more on personality/comfort preferences?

My second question. Both girls rolled over from tummy to back for the first time on the same day (13 and a half weeks). And they also starting smiling real smiles within a day of each other (right before 5 weeks). Well over a week ago Selah rolled from her back to tummy and keeps doing it over and over. She really prefers to be on her tummy to play, I guess. Noelle, on the other hand hasn't rolled this way yet. She gets on her side, but won't go all the way over. It seems like she could do it if she really wanted to, but she just doesn't want to? I guess I thought meeting milestones would be more of a genetic thing and happen close together for my girls. How about your twins? Have they gotten teeth at the same time, etc.? Just curious how this is "supposed" to be. :)

I've always had my boys on the same schedule, but it wasn't until about 7mo that they started to follow very similar patterns. For instance, Owen started sleeping through the night 7pm-7am at 3 months, while Ben woke up to nurse at least twice during the night. Ben was a longer/better napper while Owen was a better night sleeper and didn't really need a paci. They started following VERY similar sleep patterns though around 6-7mo.

As far as physical milestones go, Ben has always been at least 2weeks ahead on almost everything (Rolling both ways, sitting, crawling, pulling up). Owen always gets there, he's just a little more cautious and deliberate while Ben is a wild man! In this instance I think it's definitely a personality thing.

The teeth have been amazing though. They've gotten the exact same teeth in the exact same order, all breaking within days of each other.

I have always been told that twins, even ID, are different personalities and therefore, they do tend to develop differently. I don't think that ID twins will be far off from each other unless there is some type of developmental problem due from early birth, or traumatic birth.

My girls rolled just the opposite of each other one day apart. Hope like to be on her back and Grace likes to be on her tummy. This is the way they rolled. Hope to her back from her tummy and Grace from her back to her tummy. They have no desire to go the other way yet and I know they both could. We got pictures of their first smiles on the same day as each other. So we are pretty much right on track with each other so far.

They did a lot of things at the same time, but I remember when Evan started to get up on all fours and rock. Cameron still wouldn't get up off his belly. Then Evan started crawling and Cameron still hadn't even begun rocking. It really started to bother me because I thought that they should be hitting milestones at the same time. It took Evan about a month to figure out how to crawl once he started rocking. Then all of a sudden one day Cameron started rocking and then started crawling just a few days later. I think he learned a little by watching Evan do it. I think it may have something to do with their learning styles. Evan likes to practice, practice, practice whereas Cameron won't even try. He prefers to watch Evan do it for a while and then he just spontaneously does it.

Things that have to do with genetics won't be far apart, but certain milestones are based on learning not genetics and those may not necessarily happen at the same time.

Oh and to answer your teeth question, like Tracy said their teeth are coming in the exact same order at the exact same time. Right now they both have two bottom teeth and four top teeth.......still no hair. :D

Mine do different things at different times. Until 7 mos, Ainsley was ahead by about a week on everything (rolling, sitting up, pincer grasp, etc). But then Anni started rocking on all fours, crawling, pulling up, now cruising...and Ainsley is content to watch. After 3 wks, she's decided that standing up looks fun and is practicing.

Anyway, I think so much of it is both genetics AND personality, even into adulthood. For example, I know I COULD get up before 8 am, I just don't doggone FEEL like it! LOL

I think it's great that even ID twins, the most genetically alike a human can get (at least for now) are ruled by personality. If that isn't proof of the soul, I don't know what is!!

Our identical boys are identical with sleeping and eating and teething, but developmental milestones are very different, and it has to do with their personalities. Porter has always been the one wanting to be on the move. He broke out of his swaddle all the time in the NICU! He rolled way before Bridger and has been getting places by rolling over and over again for a long time, while Bridger just started recently. He also appears to be much closer to crawling than Bridger. He just wants to get going. Bridger, however, has always been more still and analytical. He studies his toys, and so he is much better at sitting than Porter. Bridger sits well unsupported and examines every inch of whatever toy is in front of him. Porter will sit for a second but then wants to get down on the floor and move onto the next thing, so he doesn't really sit well unsupported yet.
