Question about RSVPing for a party

It has been a long time since I have posted on here... but each time I have, responses have been great!

So... here I go again with another question.

The boys turned four yesterday (yeah guys) and their b-day party is this Saturday. I sent out invitations a month ago, with a RSVP date of the 21st. Well, only one person has RSVP'd to me. On the invitation it said to please RSVP, not with regrets only or anything else. We are going somewhere where you are charged by the head count of kiddies, and you have to let this location know in advance! The people that live next door to us just told us Wednesday that they were coming, another neigher I have yet to hear from. NONE of the kids at their daycare that were invited have RSVP'd. I know that they are aware of the party and that they did receive the invitations, this is from the daycare provider. She has asked the moms if they were going (the daycare provider is coming too) and they kept telling her that they would call me. The provider is so sweet, she kept checking in with the parents to see if they were coming or not (she volenteered, I never asked her to) and I have rec'd responses now from all but my one neighbor. My guys are four, they are not going to care who shows up and who does not, they just want the party. I don't care who shows up, just want a head count.

Here it is... after all that drivel... the question. Has the RSVP become a thing of the past? Is there another, more up to date way of asking for people to respond? Am I out of line wanting an RSVP answered?

    THANKS

One of my biggest pet peeves-- people who do not RSVP! I think you should pick up the phone and start making calls, its a pain, but honestly people don't seem to respect the RSVP thing anymore.

Ditto -- it drives me nuts, but that's sort of what you have to do. I'm glad the teacher was able to do a lot of the "reminding" for you, anyway.

If you didn't put an email address in the invite, that might help for next time. Not that it excuses the total rudeness of not responding, but a lot of people (me included) are likely to respond quicker if they can do it by email.

    Happy birthday to your boys!

Its not a thing of the past people just suck!

If it is important to you, then call all the people you invited and find out, it its not, only give a head count for the people that have called you and to everyone else, good riddance! :D

I got a couple of people who emailed me even though I had my phone # not email listed and only got 2 actual calls, others related the message through others to me. And my whole family never called nothing. I have completely given up on them seeing since they could not even call send a card nothing. I understood my sister's reason for not coming so I'll keep in contact with her.

I can't stand it when people don't RSVP! I would start calling people as well and just tell them that you need to get a headcount for the party place. I hope you have a great party :)

I was thinking of my response, and then read this and couldn't agree more. HUGE HUGE HUGE pet peeve of mine, especially when you are required to have a head count. I hope the party is a blast!!

How annoying! FWIW, I still RSVP and refuse to stop expecting it. I guess we have to be a little more persuasive...

"RSVP 555-1312 ... we don't want to run out of cake!"
"RSVP 555-1312 ... we need a headcount for PartySpace!"
"RSVP 555-1312 ... it's not a thing of the past!"

    Would that be rude?

My son's bday is tomorrow and his party, too! Anyway, this year I copied catted what a friend of mine did on her son's invitations - I put my phone # and my email address to RSVP to. I had about 5-6 people respond by email and then some by phone and some just told me when I saw them. But I only had about 3 not respond at all out of about 20. That would drive me crazy! My party is at Pump it Up and the limit is 25 people for the party and I needed a count for party favors and cake, ice cream, capri suns, etc.
