ok I only SORT OF belong here. I do have twins but they are now two but I also have a 5 month old who has recently started rolling over to his tummy while sleeping which is all fine and dandy except that he wakes up from a nap or at night PISSED that he's on his stomach. I know he CAN roll back over to his back but he seems so upset that he's suddently on his stomach that he DOESN't roll back over.

I have thought about a sleep positioner (anyone use on) but worry that he'll wiggle out of it and then it'll be a sids hazard..

would you just do cio until he either falls back asleep on his stomach or rolls back over?? He's usually SUCH a good sleeper (12 hours at night) and 3-4 hours worth of naps durring the day but this is REALLY disrupting his sleep..... (and mine)

Any thoughts and suggestions would be GREAT

i think your best bet is to lose a couple nights sleep and roll him back over or entice him to do it, maybe with a teddy or glow worm or something. than he will remember how to do it and it wont be a battle latter, good luck

I used a sleep positioner. I wedged my girls on their sides and they slept great.

I'd roll him over, and give him a lot of tummy time during the day so he learns to roll back. I wouldn't use a positionner.

I wouldnt use a sleep positioner since once mine started rolling around, they werent effective at all. They would just squirm down them. I would just get up and keep rolling him back over and figure that this too shall pass.

One of my girls does this as well. I rolled up 2 receiving blankets and placed them next to her waist. She hasn't had a problem since.

Mine only did this a few times. We went in and rolled them back over. DD decided she liked her tummy and is now a tummy sleeper. DS decided he prefers his side or back and stopped rolling over onto his tummy. I hope he figures it out quickly. I would go in and flip him back over if he doesn't like his tummy. I've never used a sleep positioner.

That transition went pretty quick for us (although it didn't seem like it when they were grunting and fussing!) so hopefully it will pass soon for you, too.

I agree with letting him work it out for himself as much as possible and giving plenty of tummy time during the day. I worked with the boys a lot at helping them learn how to roll back over, but I find they rarely do in their sleep. They've just gotten used to their tummies and seem to prefer it now that they know then CAN roll over if they want to.
