We're going to start the potty training soon, my DD is really showing signs of starting. My question is for those who have done so, did you get your twins their own potty or one to share?

My bathroom is very small and maybe hard to get two potties in there. Do you think it's very unsanitary for them to share one? Of course it would be clean each time they use it. What do you think? and between your boy and girl, which one mastered the potty first?

I don't have boy/girl so no info there. For me, it worked best to have two potties because it was inevitable that when one goes, the other wants to, and in the beginning of potty training, they can't hold it to wait on the other to finish. However, I'm sure others have had success otherwise...good luck!

I will admit I did potty chairs with my first 2 girls, but my first boy blew that apart. He needed to stand to go. So, after that, we just used the toilet. My kids were all under two when they learned, so I had a tiny little stool for them to stand on to reach the toilet. For potty they just pulled down their pants and went. For poopies, they actually crawled up on it and went(had to strip down for it, but did).

Good for you for starting it now. Good luck, I hope it goes well :good:

Oh, so back to the two potty chairs, I don't think it's neccessary. If you are cramped for space, then they can take turns like they do for other things as well. I think as parents we always want things to be "fair", but in the real world, they need to learn to share and take turns. That's where distractions come in to play. You can do it!!

We are just starting to introduce the potty (I have b/g twins) and we bought them their own potties. Well, we are learning that they like to use DD's potty as a stool and DS's potty to practice in. For us, we probably would be okay with just 1. Both of them are just starting to show some signs of being ready to potty train, so we are just getting them used to the idea now but not expecting anything.

i think that two would be nice so they can enterain each other BUT it doesn't seem like it's necessary if you don't have teh room.

    gl!

If you're worried about sanitary issues, you probably won't like my suggestion... but... we put our two little potties in the playroom. I didn't have room in the bathroom either, so the playroom was the best location for us. And I agree with the PPs, if you can find a way to fit two, it helps because then your kiddos can practice at the same time.

We have one little potty and one ring for the rare times they potty at he same time. Plus a ring is good for transitioning

We have a couple of potties, and station them around the house so we're never too far for one, and we now have enough that I put one permanantly in the car as well.
