My boys are 5.5 months old. They were born at 36 weeks.

One of them has rolled from back to front for 2 months now, lifts his head and everything. The other one CAN roll, but chooses not to do it, but he won't lift his head when he's on his tummy. Is this a bad thing at this age?

My dd is temperamental. She can sit, roll both ways and do everything her brother can do. She chooses not to. Its just different personalities!

My DD was the same way - her brother was rolling at 4 mos, sitting at 6 (although she was too if you put her in a sitting position she would stay that way) and crawling at 8 mos...she chose not to roll (although she could) and crawl till after 10 mos - just cuz she could...although she was cruising before she was crawling because she had an intense need to stand up (if you stood her against something like a couch she had impeccable balance) and started cruising...

As far as rolling goes, my dd rolled over from belly to back at 3.5 months and has yet to do it again. SHe did it then for about a week and I guess figured it wasn't worth her time? Ds did the same thing, he did it enough to show his physical therapist he could and that was the end of that!
As for the head lifting, I am not sure so I won't say anything. Is he lifting his head at all and then maybe getting tired and putting it down?

I don't think it's a bad thing - you at least know he can roll - it's just not his thing - every kid is different - if he seems to be reaching other milestones at a reasonable time I would not worry. :hug99:

    He won't lift his head.

He is fine in the exersaucer and his bumbo, but won't lift his head on his tummy.

OUr girls are almost six months old, born at 36 weeks - and the do the SAME thing. One baby loves being on her belly - you roll her on her back and over she will go. She lifts her head up and almost looks like she is ready to crawl. Our other baby can roll over - She has done it a couple of times - she just is lazy. Where you lay her is how she lays. I think it is more important that you know they can do it. All babies are different - especially if they are fraternal twins!

Have you tried putting a boppy or rolled up blanket under his chest? That way he has a better view of things and may stay that way longer? That was the only way my ds would do tummy time. Or you could lay him on your chest...mommy is much more interesting then the floor! ;)
