question about labor...

are there any, like, early symptoms of labor, before the contractions and all that? like, nausea, weakness, etc...?

Some people report that about 12-24 hours before labor they have diarrhea. Like their body is getting prepared. In my singleton pregnancy, I didn't have it. But it's happened enough times that it's in the books. And don't forget the nesting instinct, which happens to alot of people. But I wonder how often it happens in twin pregnancies?

 

I think the loss of the mucous plug is one. I lost it with my oldest and about 24 hours later the contractions started.

I'm interested in this as well, I've been having on and off nausea, diarrhea, and lots of menstrual cramping for the last 3 days, I keep thinking I'm going to go into labor (i'm already 3 cm and 75% effaced for crying out loud), yet nothing has happened. How long can it go on??

 

With my twins labor I just felt off. My dh brought me home Wendy's and at that point I usually inhaled it, I took a couple bites and just wasn't hungry anymore. I spent most of the day in the bathroom....so I knew something wasn't right. And of course the contractions...but those I guess we expect right!! Most of all I can honestly say I just felt off..

 

do you feel like any pressure down below or anything like that? some people say it feels like you have to poop... i just want to be prepared, if i start feeling different. i mean, i've felt like crap all day today, but i think it's cuz they're going thru another growth spurt, and the fact that i have one baby resting on my bladder is not helping. i walked into walmart for about 10 minutes and had to get a motorized cart (which, by the way, the ones at walmart are MUCH better than the ones at target! lol)
doc checked my cervix last friday adn i was completely closed, but have also been informed that it could be closed, and things could change 5 minutes later...

 

I have felt off for a week. They said I must have picked up some kind of virus or something. I go today for my appt and I am anxious to see what is really going on. I am so lethargic yet can't sleep for more than an hour or so. I haven't been eating well and last night and this morning I am having cramps and more BH. I asked my dr. about the mucous plug but she told me not to bank on it since not everyone losses it. I am sure it is just different for everyone.

I def felt pressure, just different from my normal bh contrax I got. I kept complaining to my dr that I was having so much pressure. They told me to go on bed rest kinda I guess. I didn't think they meant complete bed rest, so maybe that would have helped some. I had been checked various times and was always long and closed. I totally thought thats what they were going to tell me when I got to l&d. I was absolutely shocked when I found out I was 5cm and 50% effaced. Having already had two children I really thought I would have known....I think I was in a bit of denial too..

 

i have no idea what's going on with my body. having major bh contractions, heavy down below, pukey, diarrhea, veeeeerrrry tired but restless, etc. this has been since night before last. diarrhea is new, though.
i am not holding my breath, though. i have been contracting since week 24 and only 3cm dilated, so....i just don't know anymore.
felt the major urge to get things in order this morning, but i can't stay out of the bathroom

Me too, 3 cm 50% effaced but nothing and I have all the signs just not the major ones, like water breaking bloody show or mucous plug.

 

I didn't have any signs other than small contractions starting at 29 weeks. At 34 weeks I was sitting on the sofa when I lost my mucous plug, 5 minutes later my water broke. Be prepared for anything! :lol:
