My boys are 15weeks and have been eating 5-7oz every 2hrs for the past 7weeks. they have been sttn since they were 8 weeks old. I figured they were cluster feeding during the day. They have been on the 2hr schedule since we brought them home. I have always let them make up their own schedule and they have both followed that schedule. Now that they are coming up to 4 months I was just wondering if they will change and go longer between feedings naturally or if I should or could change it. I usually make them wait 3 hrs for their last feeding at night to make sure they eat a full bottle before bed after their bath. My dr said she is not concerned as long as they are gaining weight at a good range- which they are 3 pounds a month, now 2 pounds. They will start eating cereal at the end of the month- does that help- just curious as to know what other moms and babies are doing!

wow, seems like they are eating a lot, how many total oz per 24 hrs?

My girls naturally started going longer during the day between feedings. They would eat, play, fall asleep and wake up about 4 hrs after their last feeding. lately though they are sleeping less and eat 5 oz about every 3-4 hrs during the day for a total of 25 oz or so per day.

I have 14 wk b/g twins. Our eating schedule varies slightly from day to day but usually looks something like this:
6am, 9a, 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 7pm, 10:30pm, 2:30am. All feeds are about 4.5-5 ounces. I'd love to get rid of that 2:30am feed, but they just won't cooperate :( I'm also curious how many oz yours eat in 24 hours.

    Jody,

I would probably leave it be, until you start solids, and I think you will see the times stretch out naturally then. They are great eaters!!

35-40 oz, wow! Mine eat between 20-25 oz a day. We were first on a 3 hour schedule, then they switched to 4 hours. Sometimes they have to eat after 3 hours. How much do they eat at a sitting? You could up the amount in the bottle while trying to stretch their feedings. For example, the first day try to stretch 1 feeding by 10-15 min. the next day, another 10-15 min.

Thanks, the examples of schedules were really helpful! Now I feel better knowing my boys are where their supposed to be.

My boys eat 5-7 per feeding up to 10oz when they have a growing spurt. Its been a learn as you go process, We have been lucky that they sleep through the night on their own. :)
