Question about EPTs

Hi everyone~

I can't believe I am posting in this forum as I never expected a positive pregnancy test! I am just wondering if anyone took a home test BEFORE your period was due and got a VERY positive result?

My cycle is 25 days and while we were on vacation DH and I didn't use any BC just once. I thought we were OK as it wasn't a "fertile period" but then last week I calculated out that indeed it was my best day for conception (Ahhhhh!).

So... 2 nights ago I took an EPT and the line turned dark blue right away. I am still reeling from shock! We had planned to have another but I wanted to lose weight, paint our living room, etc. My period was due toda

I know it's extremely early, but some of me wonders if there is any way this could mean I have twins again since it the test turned so dark and was so fast? It's sounds so crazy, but I keep worrying about it...

Congrats!!! Add me to the club of only once not using BC!!! My cycles are short 21 - 23 days. I took a pg test first at 20 days and then 21 days into my cycle (three weeks from the start of the last). Both came up positive...the first took longer than the second. I was paranoid I was having twins again because it was positive so early. I have had one u/s so far and it only showed one (they even did it in 4D for part of it). I think a positive pg test has more to do with how many days post conception/ovulation than from the start of your cycle. I ovulate pretty early about 7 - 9 days into my cycle so by 21 days into it there has been more than enough time for the fertilized egg to travel and implant.

I tested late this time around b/c the cycle before this last one was 38 days. This one happened to be 28days but I didnt test until day 35.

I tested 5 days prior to AF and was very positive. Congrats.

 

I don't have the patience to wait so I always test early. With the twins, it was maybe 5 days early and I got a positive right away. With this baby, I started testing about a week early and got a faint positive 2 or 3 days before my period was due.

This baby was our surprise as well. I knew it was possible based on when we had sex (right at the end of my fertile period) but didn't expect it.

 

I was 3 days late (although I already knew I wa spregnant b/c my periods are like clockwork) when I FINALLY got a + with the twins. I was 2 days late before getting a + with Olivia.

My cycle is exactly 28 days EVERY time. When I was 2 days late I worried...by 3 days I took the EPT and got a positive result VERY quickly. I took another one at 4 days after my period was due and again had a positive result within seconds.

When I took the blood test 5 days after I was due, the doctor said my levels were very high. So I was thinking, "my levels were very high with the twins...perhaps I'm having twins again." But no. After my first ultrasound, there was only one little peanut in there.

I wasn't expecting this one either. Like you, I was on the pill and missed 1 day because I wasn't feeling well and forgot it. It also took me 15 years of infertility treatments to get the twins. This one is the SHOCK of my life!

My cycle is exactly 28 days EVERY time as well and I tested at 3 weeks 3 days and got a positive. I think the odds are with you that it would be a singleton. Either way as one very smart lady once told me... "you're an expert at twins"... so whatever it is is GREAT!

Congratulations to you...and don't feel silly. I think it's good to know you're pregnant...you could be like me and have no idea your pregnant because you were taking the pill! ^_^

 

With this pregnancy, I tested positive at 9dpo and I probably could have seen the line at 7 or 8dpo if I had tested that early.

 

I tested at just barely 9 DPO (it was very early in the am) and it was VERY positive and dark. I probably could've tested on the evening of 7 or anytime on 8 days DPO and gotten a good + too after seeing how well the 9 DPO test turned out. I was VERY sick..unusual for me....and grew even faster than I did with my twin pregnancy. I was convinced it was another set due to all of those factors put together. I went in for a u/s at 11 wks and there was just 1 healthy, thriving baby growing away. It was a shock since I just expected 2 to pop up. But it is very possile to have a very dark and fast + that early with just one baby. I have 3 singles before my twins and now 3 singles after so as far as odds go they may be higher once you have frats but they are not ridiculously high. 2 of my close friends have frat twins that are around my boys' age and they both have singles after their twins. So....I say odds are that it's probably just 1 baby giving you the shock of a lifetime! LOL! Congrats!!! I love the thrill, shock and excitement of seeing that little line pop up everytime!!! It's still just amazing and such a miracle to me.
