Question about eating out with 1 year olds

I was wondering what everyone else does when you are out with your toddlers and it's meal/snack time? I've been wondering especially since my stroller has no snack tray and the LO's don't like to be spoonfed anymore. What do I do?? What did you do?

If I bring my duoglider I'm fine as I can put snacks on the tray but I love my SBS so do I sell that one to find one with snack trays?

Any ideas? I just started wondering as I was out for coffee yesterday with some friends and it got me thinking. Especially since they aren't eating off plates (or using utensils yet ;) )

Put them in a high chair and get some of those disposable mats. Bring snacks with you or, I would cut up hotdogs into tiny pieces.

Good idea. You can also use the snack trap for snack time while out. I got ours at Target.

Ditto....ours won't sit happily in the stroller anyway if we're sitting at the table....so we take them out and they sit with us at the table. Actually we take our fisher price booster chairs with us if we're going someplace during mealtime, and they have trays right on them. So we strap those to two chairs, put food on the kids' trays, and they're generally happy until we're ready to go. They seem to sit better in the booster chairs than in high chairs offered at restaurants, but I have to admit it is kind of a pain lugging them with us!

Assuming you're actually out and about (not at someone's house or a restaurant)...

Neither of our strollers have snack trays -- I just gave them a few raisins or Cheerios or whatever at a time, or held my hand out and let them pick food off of it (like feeding birds). It was pretty messy though. (It still is, even though they are better at getting food into mouth.)

If possible, I tried to let them out of the stroller before feeding -- that way, the crumbs wound up on the ground (or on their laps where they could be brushed onto the ground) rather than smashed into the stroller. I wouldn't want to do that in a store, though.

I still use these all the time for my two. Although they do know how to take off the lids, but it is so nice to use while in the car getting their big sister, or when they are in the stroller during snack time. I love them! :)

I'd just put them in a high chair with mats and we also used snack traps.

I've seen snack traps that have a tether on them and I NEED those because DS just throws his on the ground. Even though the food doesn't come out, I'm still grossed out by it.

I was so happy when DD could finally sit upright without slouching in a highchair because it made going out to eat tons easier.

My duoglider is perfect for us. The snack trays are what makes it possible for me to take them on short shopping trips.

I love my snack cups on my SBS :good: Use them all the time! We also use snack traps when we are on long jogs in our BOB, or I feed them something like grilled cheese, PBJ, etc that they can just hold.

When we go to a restuarant we put them in high chairs at the table with us with the hippomat things - can't remember the brand sorry.. and i take cherrios or cut up grapes or something like that.

And when we go to rugby our SBS has a little tray so they use that - although constantly stealing from one another but it does keep the amused for a while.

The past couple times I've taken the girls to a resturant, I just put them in highchairs and put them at the table. (I request table instead of booth) I will order kids grilled cheese wich is one of the girls favorites and feed them right there. I've brought puffs and or cheerios if they've just eaten etc. and just want to be entertained. Sippys too. My girls just love to look around and flirt with everyone in the resturants. Last time we went I think they totally creeped this teenage boy out by staring at him. He had a baseball cap on (Dad wears one) and they just stared and stared at him. He was like"Mom, those babies are staring at me!" Needless to say they came over to talk with the girls and they love the attention. and got to grab the boys hat..... Good luck!
