when people ask you what your due date is, do you give them your due date with a singleton? or explain that the doc will take the babies earlier.

It depends who I was talking to. If it was a random person that I didn't know, I would just give them my due date. For friends and family, I explained that with twins they usually deliver them early.

I always said my 40 week due date. But explain that my doc wouldn't let me go past 38, so that was really the latest they would show up.

I usually say both: that I'm due mid-September, but the babies will probably arrive sometime in August (and this is how I often let someone know that I'm having twins).

For the first couple months I told people my 40 week due date and then explain that the dr's won't let me go past 38 weeks because its twins and finally I got tired of the big long speech (especially since now EVERYONE asks bc its obvious that I'm pregnant) so I just started telling people my 38 week due date

I always gave the 40w due date, but sometimes would say twins do come earlier most of the time.

I always said that I didn't know :umm:!
I would give a time frame to most people (family & friends)

The look of horror on their faces when they hear "July 20" and see my giant belly has led me to give my 38-week date ("just after the 4th of July") instead. They still look horrified. ;)

I generally just tell people when the twins will be here by, if they ask more than that, then i go into it.

My 40 week due date is Aug 3 but I've just started telling people July....with no actual date. When they look at me like they want more information I tell them it's twins and they understand.

:good: This is exactly what I did. I knew that random people (or I thought) didn't really care to hear a whole novel about it.

I usually give the 37 week time frame as I figure they want to know when twins are arriving? If they sound like they know something about due dates, I explain that twins come early, and my real due date would have been ...

I LOVE that question :) agree with some PP depend who is asking
if just strangers I always give them my EDD without comment and like to see on ther faces when they look horrified at my huge belly ( i am look now as 38 weeks with singleton)
and trying to think how huge I can be in another 2 more months.
but for freinds I always saying that baby would be here no later then July 4th.

I make it easy for most people. I've just been saying, "Oh mid-May sometime." This belly of mine looks like it is ready to give up the goods right this moment, so it's not a stretch for people to understand. Going into the whole "Well, 40 wks is June 10 but they're taking them at 37 wks" which then leads to many further questions I don't feel like answering just taxes my patience at this point, lol. It avoids the deer-in-the-headlights stares.

I just remembered, we were joking about getting a t-shirt made explaining everything

    My due date is....
Yes, I seriously have that many more weeks to go.
Yes, you heard me right, it's twins.
    Yes, twins come early.
Why yes, I am huge, thank you for noticing.
    Yes, they're identical.
Why no, twins don't run in my family.
    Yes it's random.
I am so glad your second cousin's wife's aunt had a set of twins!

    (I think I am a little cagey today :p)

I usually say "July 21st, but it's twins, so they'll likely be here end of June/beginning of July". It's pretty short, sweet, and gives out all the pertinent info. Because like a pp, if I just said July 21st, people's eyes would bug out of their heads when they looked at my tummy and thought, "dear God, this woman has three more months???!!!" It just kinda answers all the questions before they have a chance to spit them out...it's like I can see them getting ready to comment on the July 21st date, but before they can say anything I've covered the whys and hows of my size! :)

I say I'm due Aug. 3, but since it's twins they'll be here around 37 weeks or so which is Mid July sometime.
