this morning my LOs did not go down for their 10:00 nap.
they fell asleep at noon after a bottle but did not eat lunch. one LO woke up 30 mins later and i made him lay in his crib and just fell back asleep. the other LO is still sleeping.
obviously when they wake up, im keeping them up. how do i know if 1 nap is good now? i wouldn't mine one long nap so any advice is appreciated!

I would give it a few days just to make sure this isn't a one-off. My guys have always had "bad-nap" days so I try to make sure it's a trend before making any changes. When we were transitioning, we'd always try to lay them down for the first nap, and go get them if they didn't go to sleep after about 45 minutes of quiet time. We did this with Nate for at least 2 weeks until we were certain he just wasn't going to go down for the first nap. Jack kept his first nap for at least a month after Nate dropped his; Jack has always needed more sleep than Nate.

If you do decide to go to one nap, you might want to move lunch a little earlier and be prepared for them falling asleep in their highchairs. Just last week both boys nodded off during lunch without even taking a single bite! We just gave them a big snack when they woke up. :good:

My daughter started to take 1 nap shortly after her first birthday. Just like yours, she was not tired for her morning nap anymore. So I kept her up until 11.30-ish, fed her and put her to bed. She did not sleep much longer at the beginning and was cranky for a few nights but then started to sleep longer in the afternoon and the nights got better, too.

There were days, when she was too tired and still needed two naps, and it was okay. You wouldn't know unless you tried.

I knew my two were ready for one nap when they both would consistently boycott the AM nap. I agree with Valerie in still giving them two naps to make sure that today was not a fluke and when you are ready to transition, I would give them lunch before they go to sleep at 12 noon. Good luck!

I agree, just give it time to tell... Mine still go down early for their 1 nap, and that's what works for them so it works for me  I do love the one nap a day so enjoy it!
