Ryan just got his DOC band on Thursday, and tonight when I took it off he had red marks above both ears that are raised and look like a blister is forming. Of course the office is closed until Wednesday, and I don't know what to do. I don't want to hurt him, but I don't want to mess anything up. Any advice?

I was told there should not ever be any red marks but I know other people are told that red marks are ok as long as they go away within 10 minutes (I believe that is what the time frame was) of removing the helmet. Is the helmet bothering him? If it is and the red spots do not go away within even an hour or so of taking the helmet off then I would probably keep it off until you can get him in for an adjustment.

It has been off for over 2 hours now and the spots are still red and have become very swollen. Should I wait for them to get better and then put it back on, checking it every 3 hours, or should I just leave it off until Wednesday?

Personally, I think I'd leave it off until Wednesday, especially since they haven't gone away.

A few days probably won't make that big of a difference for the plagio but if he gets open areas in his skin, that would be difficult to heal properly and still be able to wear the helmet/band as much as he needs to.

GL, hope the red marks are dissipating!

    I agree with Chillers.
