Hi all - (already posted this in "pregnant with twins" forum - just thought it would be a good question here too).

It's been a while since I've posted, but in case you don't recognize me, I'm the crazy Mum who has 11 month old twins and am expecting another set of twins this June (16 months apart, yep). (PS the second set was completely natural, the first set we had some drug assistance).

ANYWAY - my girls won't be ready for "big girl" beds when the new twins are born... the idea of buying two more cribs just seems expensive and then - what - the girls will be in beds by the time they are 2 or 2-and-a-half?

So, am I a bad Mommy for thinking maybe the new twins would be OK in pack'n'plays to sleep? I can't see how it could hurt them? But - I don't know. On the other hand it seems like I'm being cheap - no?

    What are your thoughts?

My twins started out in a co-sleeper in our room until about 6 months old....then we converted the co-sleeper to the packnplay and used another packnplay for the other baby....So they just ended up sleeping in packnplays!

When baby #3 came along, we gave her the co-sleeper, and got another pack-n-play. The twins are still sleeping in the pack-n-plays and will be until we put them in regular beds. (Which will be sometime in the fall - as we are making a trip this summer, where we will still use the PNPs) We are not going to use toddler beds....we are just going to go straight to regular sized beds.

They seem to do fine in the pack-n-plays. It also makes it easier to travel since they are already used to them.

    HTH!

My great aunt had 2 sets of twins like that =) When I had my first two DD's, an online friend had 2 sets of twins about 12 months apart!

My last DD slept in a pack n play until she was about 2 and easily moved to a toddler bed after we moved and could get another bed for the "big" girls!!

We don't have a crib anymore; I am planning on the babies sleeping in the co-sleeper beside my bed until they outgrow that or not sleeping good together. The co-sleeper will change into a pack & play and we have another pack n play so they can sleep in both of them when needed. We don't have space for 2 cribs right now anyway!! We moved from Florida in April and have been renting; we are hoping to buy a house in the summer.....

My twins slept in pack n plays until 3 years old when they switched to beds. They are on the short side so that probably helped .
One bonus is there is no getting arms and legs caught in crib slats!

I don't see anything wrong with it. Might be a bit tough on your back but I'd probably consider doing the same thing.

    Thank you for the replies!!!

We do have 2 more hand-me-down cribs available but may not have the mattresses, so still thinking about it.

Love the idea that they can't throw the binkies out of the cribs either - my two one-year-olds love doing that every night... G has 6 binkies we leave in with her, S has 4. Guess how many they have every morning?

I think its fine, they wont know what they are missing - or not missing. But, if you decide to use the hand me down cribs, then you should know that ikea has very inexpensive crib mattresses.
