I didn't notice it at the time, but my sisters & I got to chatting last night about kids, etc & something they said reminded me that at the last well baby checkup (for 18 mos) the Dr. didn't remove their diapers when he examined them. They always have before, so I was wondering if that's just something they stop doing around this age?? He also didn't look in their mouth/teeth at all.

Our doctor removed their diapers and looked in their mouths at their 18 months WBV. They still had us remove their clothes and diapers to weigh them and then she took them off again during her exam.

The twins doc looked under their diapers.

We don't have an 18 month check up, I think our ped is the only one who doesn't, but at 15 months he did look inside their diapers.

Yep, our pedi just did both at our 18 month appointment. She also checked heart, ears and nose.

Their diapers were removed, and mouth and ears checked at their 18 month WBV.

Our pedi checked the diaper zone and mouth at 15/18/24. I'm pretty sure the mouth and genitals are part of a well-child exam for many years to come.
