So, I've been in bed for almost a month now...but it's "modified" so i've been up and down a little to get food, go to the bathroom...
A couple days ago I noticed that my legs feel sooo achy. Like a ran a marathon a few days ago or something. Is this just from the bedrest catching up with me...even though I'm getting up a little? It doesn't have to mean the babies dropped already or anything scary like that does it? I'm only 26 weeks. I don't think I look different like they dropped. And I don't have pain in my groin or anything.

is it cramping? or like a muscle ache? I had HORRIBLE muscle cramps and my dr. said to up my magenisium (sp?) and they went away.

It's more of an ache. I do get those random horrible cramps in my feet and calves once in a while!!! OUCH! Those suck! I used to get those a lot while playing soccer back in the day.

What I'm talkin about is just an all over ache.

Hum..it may be related to the bed rest...i would def. talk to your dr.

I was on bedrest, but it was very modified (i had high bp, but no PTL).

I would say it's related to bedrest. I had the same thing after laying bed so long. Mine was pretty strict, I was in the hospital and I did have bathroom privileges and every other day shower, but other than that I was in bed. I did some light PT while I was laying there and it really helped the achiness. You do need to be careful with pain in your legs because being on bedrest and pregnant puts you more at risk for blood clots. They were always nagging me about that in the hospital. Could you ask someone what gentle exercises you can do while laying there? If you don't have someone to ask, I can try to describe what my PT had me do.

I had restless legs when I was on modified bedrest (I was up & around several times a day, but not for more than a minute at a time). I think it was more the pregnancy itself than the bedrest that caused it, though -- it's very common in pregnancy. Mine did not feel exactly like an ache, more like being extremely fidgety. My dad has really bad restless legs, though, and his do feel achy and painful. So it could be that.

I still have them (though not as bad as when I was pg), and I take a magnesium/calcium supplement before bed that seems to help. Stretching also helps, though that was much harder when pg (even when I wasn't on bedrest) because my belly got in the way.

It could also be that your hips are getting stiff and tight from being so inactive. I have to stretch out my hips nearly every day or my legs start to ache. Again, this is hard to cure when you're not supposed to be moving around a lot. But you might ask your doctor if there are some gentle stretches you can do.
