:p I am coming over from the FY forum because at the time they will be one! :p

We are flying with the twins in a few weeks. I have read/heard to give Benadryl before the flight to make them "comfortable". Now, I can't find Bendryl for infants. Would it be okay to give them the childrens Benadryl? Have you given it to your one year olds? I've only ever given them Motrin or Tylenol, so I don't know if it's all the same. All suggestions/advice is very much appreciated! Thanks. :)

My girls had horrible carsickness issues and we used Benadryl for that. The problem was that they got so upset by the administration of the medicine itself -- and often wouldn't take it -- that we rarely got it in them. I think the dosage was 1 tsp of the Children's Benadryl. Ask your pediatrician.

FWIW, now (since they turned 2) we use Dramamine chewable tablets and they are much more willing to take them. 1/3 of a tablet.

When we flew to Florida in February (they were 2), I gave them half a dose...they were in awe the whole time of the planes and things, and never made a fuss. They slept the way there for almost the whole way, and on the way home, played nicely.

Since they are infants, I would ask the Dr. how much to give. No dr will tell you to give it...mine kind of hinted it...lol.

    Good luck on the flight!

OH- Also, I gave them some decongestants once a dat for about 3 days before the trip. ...just to make sure everything was clear...nose, ears, etc.

Liz, I know you probably already saw this but just a reminder about Travel Tips for Twins in FY.

I also gave the Benadryl in half a dose. It works fine for us, but you may want to try it ahead of time and see how they react to it. Sometimes it will keep them awake instead of making them sleepy!

    Thanks ladies!

Sarah, I read that thread and that is where I saw about the Benadryl...but also read in other places {also from people posting} and it got me wondering if I was missing the Benadrly for infants at the store, which wouldn't surprise me! <_<

    Thanks again. :)

We have flown several times and never had to give them any thing(the last time was at 1 year). Mine just always slept.
