I just got the Nuby sippy cups (the ones with handles and a straw), and they're great. DD is having a very easy time drinking water from them. (DS can't be bothered with anything that doesn't have calories, but that's another story. )

They seem really leaky, though. Am I putting them together wrong? Or are they just not that watertight?

I think I've got those same ones and I don't notice any (or much anyway!) leaking. One thing I do notice that I need to pay attention to is the valve on the outer straw (I hope that makes sense!) can be tricky to get the edges all the way sealed...with out pulling the whole %$@!!& thing out again....!

Of course, mine could leak more than I realize...the girls like to let their drink leak out of their mouths when they're done drinking but not necessarily done playing! :D

I had the Nuby cups with handles and ended up throwing them away - I was going crazy with them leaking all the time! I now prefer the Gerber ones.

Once the kids toss them hard a few times they start to leak. In my expereince they start to leak in about 3-4 months. But, its all I use, they love them!!!

Oh the LEAKING!! I hated them, except for the fact that Ashley liked them because they had a soft nipple so we started her on them. Anyway we switched to the Gerber with a stopper and soft nipple (hard top) Does that make sense. They are much better... not ONE leak so far!

For us anyway, the Nuby's without the straws, just the soft silicone (?) clear top had to be ditched fairly quickly, but the straw sippies are holding up okay.

Speaking of which, fuschia, you're in the NE like me...where were you able to find the straw sippies with handles???

I had to order mine online and have them shipped to the house, couldn't find them in stores anywhere!

I have noticed with any of the straw sippers they leak over time as pressure builds up in the straw, it starts pushing it out liquid, which is why I guess they recommend keeping the flip top closed when not drinking from it, but this also ruins the point that the kid can do it himself since they can't flip the darn top open, I can barely flip it sometimes! I threw out ALL my straw cups for this reason. hate them hate them.
can you feel the frustration? ;)

Thanks for the input! I was wondering if it was just my incompetence or something about the cups themselves...

Does that one have a straw? They don't really understand tipping the cup up to get a drink yet, so the straw seemed like a good idea...

A BRU nearby (here in RI) had them, though Target didn't. Whereabouts are you? I'm surprised you couldn't find them!

No, but I had to get a straw cup to help Ashley out too! I bought some at Costco.

That's why we went to straws too.

I'm up in NH, and the nearest BRU is 45mins away...so not worth the travel!! But we I didn't even think to look at the TRU near us :fool: They've got a baby section in them, I'll have to go check them out! Thanks!
