Pushing toys

So my two are spoiled rotten but I haven't bought any toy they can push yet. Mostly I haven't because there just isn't much room to get a use of them. They have a 30ish sq feet play area that they are happy with for now, but it wouldn't give much room to really go anywhere with the toy :( Especially with all the toys in the way... Plus I'm worried they will start pushing it and it will go too fast and they will fall or something... DD is nowhere close but DS has been cruising for 3 weeks now.

What do you think? And if we decide to get one, any recommendation? I wish we could give them more room but I just don't trust one of my dogs around them (he would steal their toys and I'm worried he will bite if the babies try to get it back), and that dog barks if he's not with us so it's a real pain...

I had a push trolley thing with my daughter which really was a danger hazard and then my mum has bought the boys a push toy with little games on the front - looks lovely - but really have never been a big fan of them. They do fall with them occasionally until they can really walk ok but of course then they are not interested in them anyway! It wouldn't bother me if we didn't have it!

On the dog front - we also had a dog like that. He put up with Lara but didn't get the pecking order at all and would growl when she went near his food. He always hated children and we just couldn't risk it. Unfortunately we couldn't rehome him (he was a nipper) so we had him put down. Not saying you should but go with your gut feeling if you are not sure and be vigilant!

I would definitely get one. We don't have one so my girls are always trying to push around toys that aren't supposed to be pushed and the sound that makes is like nails on a chalkboard. They are each getting 1 push toy for Xmas, we got them a little push scooter that you put the seat down so they can ride it or push it, and a grocery shopping cart.

I would get one. It really helped both of my girls when they got to the cruising/pre-walking stage.

I just saw a commercial for one the other day (unsure of the brand) where you can control the speed of the wheels. If you're concerned about them falling, this might be a good option for you.

We had the Playskool Step Start Walk N Ride, or some crazy name like that. The girls LOVED it.

Thanks. I'll think about it once they start pushing things around, lol.

I know that dog might be an issue down the line. He's great with children, but he steals things and has resource guarding issues, so I don't think I'll ever trust him around the kids until they know not to bother the dogs. It really wouldn't be a problem if I could just gate him in the office (it's where their crates are), but then he barks very loudly, and I don't really think it's good for dogs to spend their time alone in a room either. He barks if he's outside too long too. I worry about the logistics every day and I see no solution, but dh won't hear about rehoming him for now (and we'd need to find a home that really has time to train him etc). He's a really good dog otherwise though so it stinks. At least it's manageable still, but it won't last once the babies want to get out of their play yard.

They are not necessary, but my LO's sure have had a lot of fun with them :). GL with your decision!

We have this little people fire truck and this walker thing and they boys love them. No toy is necessary, but I wouldn't want to be without them. We only use ours in our small playroom because until just recently they moved to fast on the hardwood. They push them forward then move around to the other side and push them back across the room. The firetruck is better for that reason.

We got both of ours off of Craigslist because I wasn't sure about them either.
