Both of my girls have been fully day trained since right about age 2 1/2. Shortly after we started night training, and Ashley has never had an accident since. Madelyn was doing well at night and then it seemed like every third night or every other, she woke up with an accident. Tired of waking up and changing sheets, I put her back in a pull up at night. At their three year well visit, the doctor said this was no big deal, some kids need more time for night training. Well, now at age 3 1/2, she wakes up with a wet pull up every day! How do I transition out of this? Should I wake her up at 11:00 and put her on the potty? Just let it go and see what happens? Is this normal? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

My girls are 3 1/2 and both have been daytime trained for quite awhile, but still wear pullups at night. Most mornings, they wake up wet. I am not worried about it. I know they will eventually get it!

My oldest will be 6 in a month and is still in a pull up at night. It's a rare morning when she wakes up dry. On the other hand, Joey is 3 1/2 and is dry every night.

I know of many older kids in pull ups. I think it just depends on the child, and I am not doing anything other than to make sure she uses the bathroom before she goes to bed. Ironically, it's the mornings after the nights she drinks a lot and forgets go to the bathroom before bed that she stays dry.

Mine will certainly be in pullups at night at 3.5 (unless a miracle happens), since they're almost 3 and one of them is still in diapers full-time! And even the one who is day trained wakes up soaking wet every morning.

I don't think peeing at night is something they have any control over. And waking her up to pee would be so unpleasant for everyone (besides which, it may not even help).

Colin has been fully PT'd since September, while
Ryan still needs to be reminded.....I put them both
in pull-ups at night time.....Colin's is always dry
while Ryan's is not, but I am sure he will get it
in time too......I am not concerned about it.

I'm so glad to see this post, because I'm in the same spot. Ava and Bella will be 4 in December and have been day-trained for 7-8 months now. They still wear a diaper at nap/nightime and are always wet in the morning, and sometimes even have poop!

I have talked to our Ped. and she says that their ability to control this over night is purely a physical development and something that just has to happen on it's own. <_< They are such "big girls" in other ways that it's hard to believe we still doing diapers at NEARLY 4 YEARS OLD! It helps to know that we're not the only ones!

My two were day trained in April and July, neither one of them is night trained, they both wear pull ups at night.

Mine are still in P/U's at night. They've had dry spells where I put them in unders and it's good for a night or even a week, but always results in extra laundry, and sometimes in the middle of the night!! :(

My b/g twins have been day potty trained since they were little over 2 1/2 but they still wear p/u at night. They seem to wake up wet most nights. Getting better at nap time, most time they wake up dry.
I am not to worried about them waking up wet and still wearing p/u, they will be dry someday.

Micah is 5.5 and in Kindergarten, he still wears Underjams at night. Just recently he has started waking up dry. I started waking him up since waiting for him to "get" it hasn't worked. Don't worry, it will happen.

BTW- if your kids start getting too big for the pull-ups or they start peeing so much that there are regular leaks the Underjams seem to be softer and more comfortable than the Overnights (these are the "big kid" versions of pull-ups.)

We JUST got rid of the nighttime pull-ups. Part of the key was eliminating/reducing fluids after dinner and making sure they go before bed. The other part is just dependent upon the child. I actually heard one of the girls get up at 2am a couple of weeks ago and go potty in their bathroom and that's when I knew they could get up if it was necessary. We did have a couple of starts and stops with the nighttime pull up though.
