I've been giving the girls a few Gerber puffs every couple of days. They don't seem to get it. They get about one or two in their mouths and the rest end up on the floor for the dogs. They do seem to have fun picking them up and playing with them. When did your babies start to like to actually eat them?

Our girls were about 10.5 months before the puffs or cheerios made it in their mouths with no problem. They are almost a year now and most food makes it in their mouths. It just took practice.

Our dog enjoyed the practice time.

One of my girls is able to eat them. Took her about a week or two? She can't get them into her mouth yet though, they just stick to her hands..lol

Mine try and eat cheerios and puffed wheat (we don't have puffs here), and sometimes they make it into their mouths and sometimes they end up on the floor or stuck to their fingers. But they do have fun trying. And after they try a few times and aren't successful, I just stick one in their mouth and they seem to enjoy that. I give them these finger foods after each meal to just practice and have fun with. I don't think they actually end up eating much yet, until they develop that pincer reflex which is around 9-11months I think.

My boys are 9 months (about 8 mo. adj) and they are about 50/50 in their attempts to get the puffs in their mouths. They sometimes pick them up by raking them up with their hands and other times they get the pincer grasp. They try so hard to get them in their mouths and they are so happy when they are successful! They have recently (the past week or so) started chewing them. I think it takes another 1-3 months until they will be fairly successful getting them in each time. But the practice is great in the meantime! :)

Mine are about 9 months and it's been about two weeks that they have gotten the point of Puffs (we've been giving them the puffs since they were 7 months old). About 80% of the Puffs end up in the mouth, 20% gets thrown at each other or the cats.

It took my girls a long time! I just looked back on my notes for my babysitter when I went out of town when the girls were 9 months old. On those instructions I wrote that more of the finger food winds up on the floor than in their mouths. Now that's not the case - the majority of their food goes in their mouths. I think right before 11 months is when they got really good at eating the finger foods.

Mine got it by 7 months, but they didn't eat a lot at a time. We switched to regular crackers at 8 months and they loved it! We dropped puffs altogether after that.

At about 9 months actual they could finally pick them up and get them to their mouths. It might have taken a taste or two to realize they liked it; but once they got it, they loved them.

My babes are 8.5 months, and have just been getting better table food over the past week or so. Like above, it's half pincer/half rake, and we still end up with a fair amount of food on the floor.

We're also eating larger chunks of soft foods like pancakes and canned fruit.
