When were your twins able to pick up things off of their high chair trays? I put puffs on there, but they won't grab for them. The funny thing is though, they will take them out of my hand and ever so gingerly put them in their mouths. Just wondering how to work on getting them to take of the tray?

In my experience, just keep putting some on there and eventually they'll do it. Lily has done it, and I always clap for her and make a big deal when she gets one in her mouth.

Grace must have been hungry yesterday because normally she just pushes them around. But yesterday when I put them on her tray she immediately picked it up and put it in her mouth.

    1) Do your babies have teeth?
    2) What kind of solids are they eating right now?
    3) Do they choke/gag on the puffs?

I bought some the other week, but I'm kind of scared to give them to mine. No teeth, Stage 2 foods and oatmeal, but no gagging on anything. I'd like for them to start putting food in their mouths, but don't want to do it wrong [IMG]

Just keep putting them on the tray and they will eventually pick them up, especially if they can already pick them up out of your hand.

first_second_and_last-When I first started giving my twins the puffs I would split them in half. They really do dissolve very easily when there is any saliva in their mouths, both DH and I tried them. Try breaking them in half and see how they do, be sure to be right there just incase though, but if they are eating oatmeal they could probably handle half puffs, then you will be able to move to the full ones.

I agree with continuing to put them on the tray. I did that with the puffs and eventually they got sick of waiting for me to do it. I did the same thing with the sippy cup...just kept putting it on the tray and one of them finally figured it out!

I had to show it in my fingers and then slowly bring it down to the tray. I think they just didn't realize that food can go on that thing. Show it to them and slowly bring it down so they see it there.

My girls have been eating puffs since about 7 months or so. They really do pretty much melt in the mouth. As the saliva hits it and they gum it, it disolves within maybe like 5 seconds or so. They are a great first finger food to try IMO.

They don't have teeth yet, but very soon- I can see them. They eat Stage 1 solids, probbaly going to go to stage 2 soon. They don't choke on the puffs. They love them and get really excited when they see the container and I shake it before putiing some on the tray.

My boys love puffs! Just tried wagon wheels today- not their faves yet...
The boys have no teeth- but started eating cheerios at 6 months- so puffs are way easier!! Paul started picking them up last week and just kinda rakes them into his hand and gets them to his mouth somehow! Jack waits for me to give him one- but he does shuffle them around the tray...
They do dissolve soooo easy- I don't think they are much of a threat unless they put a handful in their mouths!

I cut them in half and it seems to be working! They are making the chewing motions. DS gets a look on his face like I gave him a spoonful of vinegar, but he'll get there. DD chomps away and waits for another one [IMG]

I think it was around 8 months for us. I know I tried a bit earlier and they gagged, so I waited a couple of weeks and tried again.
