The past couple of days when we are out and Sydney sees a bathroom she askes to go potty!
Yesterday, she then peed in the potty! Today I did not let her sit long enough to do anything.

    How would you handle this?

I found when they were 1st without the pullups they did want to stop at every bathroom or kept asking. After about a month the novelty wore off.

    Good luck

I do everything and anything to encourage the peeping on the potty, if they ask, we go!

Are you currently in the process of training ( I apologize if I should already know the answer, I am emotionally exhausted but physically unable to sleep so still puttering around TS)? I think you have to go with your gut. There were times K&K would have to go to the bathroom and I would know and we would go. There were other times I knew it was just a way to check out a bathroom so I would tell them they had to wait until they got home. It really depended on where we were, how long we had been gone, when the last time they went was etc etc. We went through a short phase where they wanted to go in the grocery store every time and at Boston Market whenever we went. Both of these places are one mile from our house and they would always go before leaving home. I pretty much know their bm schedule so I knew when they were asking it was not because of the honest need to go. I would tell them they should wait until we were home and lo and behold they would go for an hour+ after we got back home without going. They have never had an accident when out and about.

Thanks for the answers. I'm currently letting them lead the potty training. Both girls have peed and pooped in the potty. They each will sit on the potty at least once a day. But not always do anything. I'm just starting to get serious and was very surprised over the weekend that Sydney asked to go potty when out.

I would have patience and go to every washroom. To them this is a new experience. (Tedious for us but an adventure for them.) If it encourages her to keep up the excitement of potty training go for it! She is leading the way.

I wish I could say the novelty wears off, but DD(7) still checks out most restrooms. If you want to get serious about training, then this is going to be part of the routine for a while. I would suggest you figure out where all the potties are and make an offer to stop as you go by. With Nathan we will go when we are in the back of Walmart (family restroom back there), but he knows that the potty is coming so if I tell him we will go when we get over there and that satisfies him. The ones I hate are the ones at restaurants where they "HAVE" to pee as soon as my food comes out

    Isn't that the truth!!!! :(

I agree that the novelty is slow in wearing off. We still visit every bathroom the notice. And once the realize a bathroom is there (like at the grocery store) they beg to go the minute we get near it. I just take them and put them both on the potty in turn. Sometimes they go, somethines they don't (or should I say usually they don't). But I don't want to do anything to discourage what little progress we've made. so we take a tour of all the bathrooms. :)
