I havent posted in forever here, as I have been in and out of the hospital since about 24 weeks for PTL. My first stay was at exactly 24 weeks, and I dialated to a 1cm and was 60% effaced. The second time I was 28 weeks 5 days, with no change to my cervix at all, but was there for 8 days. I went into PTL AGAIN at 31 weeks 4 days, again another 8 day stay and was dialated to a 2 and 70% effaced. Time number 4 was at 33weeks 5 days, only stayed 2 nights, my doc is on vacation, so another OB was following me. I am just curious as to how many of you have experienced PTL and how many times before your babies were born? To be honest I am over it now. Next time I go in it better to be to have the boys. I really dont know how much more my body can take either. I am now 34 weeks 2 days, further along then anyone thought I would make it, as I have been on strict bedrest since my 24th week.

I am so glad that you have been followed so closely. You are doing a great job! I know you are probably very uncomfortable at this point, but 34 weeks is still very early to have your babies. You have made it so far, don't give up now! Everyday you can keep your babies in, is 3 days they won't have to be in the NICU. I know you have had a hard road. PTL, and hospital bedrest is no fun, trust me I know I did it for 4 long weeks but I also did 10 weeks in the NICU with my girls and I can guarantee you that is far worse.

You can do this!! Only a couple more weeks. The end is near!! Soon it will all be a memory!

I had the same thing during my pregnancy. I was hospitalized at 24 weeks with PTL and a 6 mm cervix. I was on strict BR at home, and went back in the hospital another 4 times with PTL. I made it to 36 weeks. At 36 weeks I developed pre-E and was induced.
You are doing a great job hanging in there. I hope you can make it a bit further. It will be helpful for your babies. Hang in there, you can do it (even though it feels miserable).

I had PTL at 29 weeks which gave me a 4 day stay in the hospital.
I was on bedrest starting at 29 weeks and took niphedipine (procardia) every 4-6 hours.
I went back to the hospital around 32 weeks for a day trip & some terbutaline shots, then back home to continue my bedrest and niphedipine till I reached 34 weeks.
At that point my doctor let me off bedrest I was dilated 4cm and 90% effaced and I showed up for my INDUCTION at 37 weeks, 5cm dilated, 100% effaced and not in labor!

Hang in there mama! If you've been dealing with this for the last 10 weeks you've done a helluva good job!

I have not had PTL (yet), but you're doing a great job of hanging in there. I know you're frustrated and miserable, but keep them in as long as you can. You will be even more frustrated when they have to stay in the NICU for days / weeks. 34 weeks is still early... but you are so close!

I imagine they will keep them in there as long as they can control the PTL until they feel they can be born healthy.

    Best wishes!

I get annoyed when people say this to me but hang in there! You went from barely viable to not only viable but also to a point where there is a good chance of having these babies without a high chance of complications. Here on out is just gravy. I had PTL from 22 weeks and none of my doctors thought the babies were going to make it. I will be 28 weeks in 2 days. I was 4 cm dilated and my cervix had shortened. I also have regular contractions. A rescue cerclage and a T pump are the only things keeping these babies inside and I was on hospital bedrest for 4 weeks. Since then I have been in and out of the hospital and that will probably be true of the remainder of my pregnancy.

I know this is emotionally and physically exhausting but you're almost there. Consider each day a victory and soon you will be the mother of a pair of miracle babies.

Yeah...sorry as well for the cliche, but "Hang in there."

DW had PTL at 24 weeks, but no clue it was PTL til she was at hospital to have a "cramp" check-out and was 10cm dialated...little to far to turn back then.

You doing good at 34 weeks...ever day is every bit stronger those lil ones will be.

1 time at 28w6d, had the babies the next day at exactly 29 weeks. I was 4cm, 90% effaced. They couldn't stop the labor. Then the boys spent 8 weeks in the NICU. Trust me, you want to make it as long as possible. I remember thinking in the hospital that if they did manage to stop the labor they had told me they'd keep me in the hospital UNTIL the babies were born and I thought ( :( ) I'd rather have them right then and there because I didn't want to stay in the hospital for possibly 11 more weeks when my hubby was just getting back from a deployment. I regret saying that now because it did happen. Just "hang in there."

Just had another stay. Went in on Saturday for painful contractions, they couldnt stop them, so they transfered me to another hospital. They monitored me until this morning where I had the most arrogant OB I have ever come across. He pretty much demanded why I was there, like it was my choice? The hospital I deal with felt it was safer for the boys to be born at the other hospital and stuck me in an ambulance and transported me. My cervix never changed, so he decided to send me home, been contracting every 2-3 mins for 2 days now. He pretty much made me feel like a baby. Told me that my back pain was not labour pain, but pain from carrying 2 babies....umm ya that is why I can time it. Then he pretty much told me to suck it up, as contractions come with the territory with a twin pregnancy. I was in tears by the time he left. Great way to make an emotional mom at almost 35 weeks feel, when she has had no sleep, and nothing they do stops the contractions. I wish my OB wasnt on vacation.

 Momma! I am so sorry that Dr was such a jerk to you!! You are doing a fabulous job! I hope these next few weeks fly by for you, as comfortable as possible. It won't be long and you will holding your precious little babies in your arms!!
