    Hello everyone :)
So I had a little scare the other night..It was around 1am, and I noticed I hadn't felt either of my babies move in a while. Then I noticed I was having quite a lot of what I 'Thought' were BH contractions. So I tried drinking some iced tea and laying on my side for about 45 mins, with no success. So I called L&D and asked what I should do. They told me to come in. So I called my mom, and she came and got me. Once I got there, they hooked me up to the moniters. I was having contractions, 3 mins. apart, and I couldn't even feel them! (Oh and the babies started moving around like crazy as soon as I got there..) So they gave me a shot of Turbutaline (sp?) and waited a while. That stopped them for about 10 mins, then the contractions started back up again! So they gave me another shot, and that made them stop, thank God! I am sooo not ready for these babies yet..I'm trying to keep them in for as long as possible, but something tells me they don't want to. My doctor wants me on bedrest at 28 weeks, but I put myself on it about 2 weeks ago, to be on the safe side. Every time I get up even just to go to the bathroom, I get BH contractions really strong...Actually, I don't even know if they are BH or real ones, since I couldn't even feel my contractions the other night.

If you're having them often. You should ask your doctor to put you on the Terbutaline pills. I've been on them for about a month. They didn't stop my contraction only once and I had to go on hospital bedrest on mag. sulfate. I'm back home now on the Terb. and it's working pretty good. Good luck!! ;) I still have contractions but thank God the Terb. stops them for awhile.

That sounds exactly like my situation, I felt great and then one day had a bunch of contractions at 27 weeks. I got put on bedrest until 34 weeks and am very familar with the terbutaline shots (aren't they awful!) I take oral terbutaline every 4 hrs to help control my contractions. I've been on bedrest for 5 wks now and it's going pretty fast. It's not the worst thing in the world, you just gotta hang in there a little longer for your boys.

If you need someone to talk to who's going through the same thing feel free to PM me. :hug99:

Sorry to hear about the contractions but glad to hear the babies are fine. I was contracting every two minutes without even knowing until I was hooked up to the monitors. Is your doc going to check to see if the contractions caused any cervical changes? If they are BH's then it isn't really a huge deal but if they are real and causing changes, like Shasta said, you should probably have some meds in your system on a consistant basis to try to ward them off.

Yes, they checked my cervix..the nurse said that I am not dilated, but my cervix was pretty soft...what does that mean???

Softening means your cervix is beginning to prepare for labor (it doesn't mean it is ready though). I think in the later stage it is quite normal for things to start the happen. The key is not too much too fast (when softening leads to shortening/effacement/dilation). Women can go for weeks and weeks with a softened cervix as well as they can being effaced and dilated...................again the key is just to make sure it isn't happening too fast too early. When that happens is when meds usually enter the picture to try to hold things off as long as possible.

Do you happen to know your cervical length currently compared to your baseline in the early weeks?

No they didn't tell me the cervical length...I'll be sure and ask about everything at my next appt. All she said is it hasn't thinned out yet, but it is softenened, and it has a dimple...I wasn't sure what that meant.
