I swear my DS has a bladder like mine. :rotflmbo: He just started to PT and is doing amazing. He's been telling us for over a month that he wants to "flush" and we thought he just wanted to play with the toilet. It's been a week and he knows when he needs to go potty and today as he was eating breakfast, he stopped and said "poo poo on potty", ran upstairs and went. :woah:

But this kid can pee every 10-15 minutes and almost every single time he pees and it's a good amount. He's always has more wet diapers through out the day than his brother but this is just crazy.

We went to zoo yesterday and while we were in the monkey house, he started saying "I want to flush" and I just thought he was bored since we just went. But sure enough, when we stopped at the bathrooms before we left his pull up was soaked.

I'm wondering if over time he will be able to hold it longer or am I going to be living in bathrooms for many years to come?

That is a healthy bladder! Seriously...I get worried when my girls go more than a few hours without using the potty.

I agree-quite the healthy bladder! You could always mention it to the pedi. I swear Anthony has the biggest bladder. It's not good, I know. He will pee before bed, say at 8 pm...and won't go some mornings until 9, 10 am. And when that time comes, he's.got.to.go!

Glad he is doing so well! :)

I'll give you the opposite perspective. My daughter is a holder. She has pretty much given herself urinary reflux from holding urine so long and so tightly. (Urinary reflux is when the urine goes back up from the bladder into the kidneys.) She has mild reflux naturally on her right side, but it's a grade 1. On her left side the reflux only occurs when she is super-full and the pressure from holding so tightly makes her ureter act like a pressure relief valve and urine goes back up to the kidneys. That reflux is up to a grade 3. Her dr. said that with those pressures in her bladder, almost anyone would end up with reflux putting that kind of pressure on their ureters.

To fix this, we are currently re-training Sarah to go more often. That should fix the grade 3 side if we can get her to stop holding. The grade 1 side is barely a leak and should probably fix itself through her continuing to grow and getting the pressure off of it.

My sil had kidney stones in her early 20's. The dr's thought it was because she's a really bad holder (wouldn't ever use a public restroom even if gone from the house all day).

So, I would say at this point, it's much better to get in the habit of going often because it can cause all sorts of problems to be a holder.

Yes his bladder will get stronger! Roycie can now go a few hours without peeing. Have you cut down some of the fluids going in?

Yes I have and it's still the same result. Now on the other hand, I can put his brother in a pull up and it can last most of the day. I know we will have issues PT him.

wow, I had no idea about the reflux issue of holding it to the extreme!

my ds had to go quite frequently at first too. in fact my dd was able to hold it over night and not ds. but now that we are not restricting liquids as much at night my ds actually holds it all night w/rarely an accident. and my dd ... is usually ok if we make sure to take her to pee one more time at 11p or so...

anyway, my ds still goes more frequently than my dd during the day, but it's more like every hour or two, not every 15 min! keep up the good work!
