We're only training Alice right now because she won't keep her diaper on.

So today, she went through 5 pairs of panties because she kept peeing in them.

    1. Do you need to go potty?
Nooooo (Because she already peed in the recliner)

    2. Okay Alice it's time to sit on the potty and go peepee!
(She sat there for 10 minutes with nothing, then put her panties on and less than 5 minutes later she peed again.)

It went on like that all day long.

    /sigh

I know, persistence. . .But I just want her to peepee in the potty consistently so we can do Royce!

 It's frustrating, I know.

Have you tried rewards? My daughter almost instantly remembered she needed to pee in the potty once she would get a special treat.

oh yeah, "choc-chip" and then Royce gets frustrated because he doesn't get a treat because he didn't pee. . .oh well, it's a good thing I'm currently unemployed, this could be a LOOONG process!

Yep, that's pretty much how it went with Karina when I tried it a couple months ago. You're more patient than I am -- I tabled the whole thing, and will try again over winter break.

    Good luck!

5 pairs in one day is much better than how it goes around here. Last time we tried, I had 12 wet pairs between 2 kids in a matter of 1.5 hours. We quit at that point. Jacob literally pees every 5 minutes when he has on undies. Maybe we will try again in December once I'm done with school for the semester and we don't have a babysitter in the mornings.

Good Luck to you! You are doing better than me! Like Becca, I tabled the idea and will try again around Christmas.

y'all are brave - I wouldn't even try until they were closer to 3...we had the potties from about 20 months forward and once in a while they'd pee in it but nothing consistent until they were 3 - and then they trained in the matter of a week...well Ian kept pooping his pants for a good 2 months afterward but thats even done now...

Bex - have you tried Pullups for Alice? I went to Pullups for mine when they refused to lay down for diaper changes and would kick the crap out of me!

Oh, I didn't even look at their ages. :bow2: for keeping it up for that long. I tried at 2 and gave up after the morning. If you find yourself getting too frustrated definately stop for a couple of months. My dd was a different person at 2 years 9 months then when we tried when she was 2. :good:

    Yeah, I gave up.

    :D

I just bought tape for her diaper. (She takes off pull ups too, and her pants, and the panties that we put on over the diaper under the pants, and the pair over the pants.)

Well at least she's mastered the motor skills necessary for PTing! My boys still panic when their clothes get stuck coming on or off, and certainly could never get through all of those clothes!

That's what I was thinking! One of the criteria is to be able to pull down one's pants...so at least she's got that going for her. My kids aren't quite there yet.

No worries, there is a whole group of us who will be kvetching about this a few months from now, when we're PT for real.

We waited until they were 3 as well, and they were also trained completely within a week. However, I definitely understand the desire to be done with diapers and different things work for different families...so: Good luck to you and best wishes! :-D I'll send any extra patience I have your way.

You'll know when she's ready. My dd made an earnest effort to keep her Dora undies dry when we did the pt thing. When she did have an accident which I think once or twice during that first week it was my fault becuase I didn't put her on the potty for a long stretch of time. Now she goes like a champ.

DS on the other hand has no interest at all. I don't plan to attempt it until winter break (he'll be 2.5) even then if it doesn't go well we'll wait again until the spring when he's 3. I think as long as he's trained by the time he goes to preschool he'll be fine.

I am sure you've heard it before, but they know when they are ready and when they are it will be a breeze (maybe).
