Do you feed your babies these even if they aren't constipated? If you do does it have any affect on them? I want to try them to see if they are allergic in case we ever need them if they get stopped up but don't want to give them the runs. Thanks.

Sure you can. Just make sure they are eating some rice cereal and maybe some bananas too. Those will "fix" whatever problems might come from prunes! ;) Good luck!

Mine loved prunes!!! I would normally mix in some rice cereal or do bananas the next day to counteract the effects.

My DS got constipated and so we needed to switch him to oatmeal cereal and give prunes. So I gave DD the same thing - because I'm not interested in feeding them separate things. It didn't seem to cause her any problem, I just don't give her as much as him.

We do prunes for DS's constipation issues, but DD loves them too! They do make a prune/applesauce mix, the 2 may cancel each other out as apples can have the same effect as bananas.

My girls eat prunes every night as dessert. They love them and they help to keep them regular.

The first time I did prunes - just because I like them - I though, "How bad could this be?" Well, they loved them, too, and ate an entire container apiece, and I swear there was not an ounce of poop left in them 24 hours later - they pooped as much as they usually do in a week.

The good news is they didn't seem uncomfortable and there was no diarrhea. But we ration the prunes now.
