Ok, I am fed up with eating all the time. I am sick of all the foods I constantly eat. I need to eat every hour at least or else i get incredibly weak and emotional (whine whine I know!)...so my question is are any of you making like protein smooties or anything? i have just researched artificial sweeteners and know that they are not really acceptable...so if you are making smoothies, what kind of powder are you using, and do you feel fuller a little longer? (I have some Boosts at home, and I usually have one in the middle of the night, but the second ingredient is corn syrup solids, and they are sickly sweet! yuck!) Also, what has your OB reccomended for protein intake. Mine just says the babies will take from you what they need....not really helpful!
    Thanks ladies!

I've been having protein shakes since before Christmas. My doctor recommended protein powder made for body builders for example. I went to closest GNC and picked up two big containers of chocolate powder. I mix up a big glass of milk and get 60 g a day in chocolate milk. It doesn't taste badly at all. It's low in sugar and contains whey protein not soy. I'm actually surprised your doctor said not just eat normally. I walked into the store and asked them what to get. They had no idea I needed that much protein but were very helpful, I even got a sample. At the last u/s both babies were in the 65-78 th percentiles for weight. I blame the protein powder shakes.

I feel your pain! The whole eating/protein thing has been a HUGE issue for me....when i was able to id make smoothies with milk and or soy milk, some yogurt, frozen fruit like bananas and strawberries (using frozen makes them thick and creamy like milkshakes) and SOFT tofu the tofu adds protein but no icky flavor

i've since gotten lactose intolerant and can't do milk anymore, and i foudn personally that soy powder makes me very gassy....i started using rice protein powder: but i make sure to dilute it in hot water before adding it so it's not as grainy -it still is, but it's bearable if i use a lot of ice and other stuff.

i can't tolerate the boosts or any of the other ones; they are so sweet they make me puke
    good luck!

I also have the HUGE container of protein powder from GNC. I used to make a milk shake every night with some in it. It was so hard to get all the protein esp at the end when the babies took over the space for my tummy. GOOD LUCK!

I, too, bought a big container of whey protein powder from GNC, in "vanilla ice cream" flavor. I looked specifically for whey protein, as I didn't want soy...

I put one scoop of it in a blender with 12 oz. of milk, one packet of chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast, and a banana. This goes down pretty easily, and has at least 40 grams of protein...

I like to add frozen fruit, too, like Jordari mentioned -- but then the smoothie gets *very* filling, and takes awhile to finish, and I'd rather just be done with it!

  6. Carnation instant breakfast is the best, try the milkshake one. Good luck.
