    Ladies,I am PIO 1.5 cc and prometrium twice per day.
    Till when did you take PIO?
    My doctor said 15 weeks,but from 12 weeks I should lower my dose on 1cc,then 0.5 cc.
    When is the save to stop especially with twins?
    Love,
    Vesna

    I don't know what PIO is, but I was on progesterone until 26 weeks. Mine was a pill vaginally inserted once a day so it is different from the cc's. I know some dr.'s differ on when it is safe to quit taking it. Maybe if you are uncomfortable with quitting it at that point they could check your levels to see what it is at before quitting it.

    PIO = Progesterone In Oil.

    I was on PIO until 9 weeks and then they switched me to a capsule I took by mouth until 16 weeks with this FET. With my twins who were a fresh cycle IVF I did the PIO injections until 9 weeks and no more progesterone at all.

    After 12 wks it's pretty safe to quit taking progesterone, but some dr's do continue you on it a bit longer. I know how scary it is to quit! I did the prog supps and stopped at the 11/12 wk mark with my older dd and my twins :)

    I felt the exact same way!!!!! As much as I was ready to get rid of the shots, I was terrified to stop them!!

    Is that similar to the progesterone injections? I started those at 16 weeks and continued with weekly injections until 32 weeks.

    I did them until 15 weeks but I had some other issues and that's the only reason we waited till 15 weeks. Normally my drs office takes people off them at 11-12. Weeks because the placenta takes over and makes enough progesterone.
    I believe the shots if not the same are similar and have been shown to reduce ptl later in pregnancy.

    I did the supplements until 15 weeks. My dr had originally said 12 weeks, but wrote the prescription through 15 weeks. I was scared to stop using them, too, so I went ahead and used the extra 3 weeks worth of supplement. I understand your hesitation.

    By 12 weeks, the placenta is producing the progesterone needed to support the pregnancy. I remember being terrified to stop as well because of all the what ifs. You're getting a lot of varied responses because progesterone is also taken as a precaution or treatment against PTL. My next pregnancy, I will keep taking it the whole time although only once a week instead of every day because of PTL.
