Everyone (i.e. inlaws) are bugging DH and I about getting professional pictures done. (I posted on here about going to Sears a few weeks back). Well DH and I convinced ourselves we could get pictures just as good at home as we could professionally. We have a good camera and have set up nice backgrounds with blankets etc, but the girls just won't cooperate. One is either crying, not looking at the camera, has her hands in her mouth, etc. Wouldn't this same thing happen if we went some where?? How have your pictures turned out? I hate to waste the money but I really want some nice pictures, as does everyone else.

Not to mention, how do you plan it around feedings, naptime etc? We are on the eat, play, sleep routine now so by the time they eat (we breastfeed), we get them ready, get to the photo place, wait for our appt if they are running late, it's time for naptime already and I have cranky girls!

I need suggestions! Also if you could post your photos so I could see some, that would be great!!

When I schedule the girls for Professional pictures I alway do it for the morning. Earlier the better. My girls seem to be the happiest at this time. If you do Professional pictures make sure you go somewhere that is good with children (twins). Talk to some people in your community and see who they recommend. And make sure you tell when you make the appointment that you have twins, that way they'll schedule you extra time. Good luck, I hope you get some good photos. Make sure you post them here after you get them done. :)

Morning works best for me too. We do it about an hour before nap time so they are usually pretty content. When we do pictures at home I always make sure the tvs are off and the dogs are locked up so there are no distractions. When we go somewhere I always make the appt. as early as possible and we call ahead to make sure they are not running behind....we just tell them we have infant twins and they understand. Good Luck and we would love to see the pics when you do get them taken!

These ones were taken by Canadian Baby Photography, and they only do babies, and they are absolutely great.
I also had some taken together, but they were a bit lobsided. These people know exactly what to do, how to get them to smile, and they are incredibly quick to shoot the picture. So my suggestion is to find a photographer that do kids specializes (sp) in babies and toddlers.

    Hope 5 month

We have taken our girls to JC Penney every month for their professional pics. My theory is if you get one good shot you're doing good. For their 2nd month pictures the first shot came out awful then they started to scream so as a joke the photographer snapped a picture and it was HYSTERICAL!! We ended up buying it and to this day it is the family favorite. It totally depicts who they were at the time.

In the early months we would load them up at nap time and get there about a 1/2 hour before the appt. and feed them there (they are bottle fed). We figured this out and by month 3 they were cooperative. We just had their 10 month pics done and it's only the second time they have smiled.

I wouldn't put high expectations on the "perfect" shot. Figure out what you are happy to live with. Good luck!!

We did our 1st b'day pics today and I make sure to get the first available appt for the day and take a couple of their own toys with us that we know will make them smile and then just go with it. Rachel sits like a little statue where ever you place her. Emily is a moving target. The firs time we did it, they actually fell asleep in the bean bag chair (they were about 3 months) and that is still my favorite pic of the two. We use Sears in one of the local malls and always have several good ones that turn out, the girls in there are great with them. I never get my hopes really high and just take what I get...
