I am taking the boys to this really nice gallery to have their pictures taken, it was terribly expensive but I haven't had any prof. pictures done yet. Well I am having a really hard time deciding what to dress them in. She told me no yellow or red, it does something to their skin color in photographs, no patterns, no stripes. What's left  . So I am curious what others dressed their babies in for pictures and how they turned out. Could you ladies share some of your professional pictures.

Well we've never done planned professional ones but when I play around with pictures in my home I like to put them in denim overalls or whites shirts with khakis or jeans. It looks really crisp and clean in color and especially in black and white. Unfortunately I don't really have any good ones to show you but you can at least see how the outfits photograph.

By the way, does the studio you're using have a website?

    Yes the website is www.galleryatlanternhill.com

Those pictures are great!! Your boys are so cute, and I guess I can see why plain colors look good.

I don't know how to link pictures on this site.

We dressed the girls in an off white romper with a pink ribbon for one set, a floral dress (mostly white with pink flowers) and naked. I love love love my professional pics. The photographer came to the house and basically got them running around the back yard. It is so worth the money to get professional pics once in a while. Wish I had more.

Funny you should ask this cuz we had ours done at Babies R Us on Sunday (didn't plan on it- but they approached us and told us it would be free, so we said "why not?!") Anyway, I really really like them and they just happened to have on PERFECT outfits!!

Click on links below. We hate the ones w/ towel on head and standing up but the others we did in a montage which I will post first and then the 2nd link is the individual photos. FYI- the pics are small on line cuz I think they think you won't buy them if they're larger.. So.. that's them in the orange and grn gap striped outfits on the beach. :) The photographer was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

They are VERY reasonably priced as well. VERY!! We've gone there twice now. *FYI* I'm barging-- we're only 8 mos old!!

I have done everything. I know going with the all white with khaki or jeans is very popular. We have done that in the past. Now I change it up. Last summer, the boys wore yellow and I thought it looked nice. I do try to avoid busy patterns but as you'll see in the pic that I'm attaching, I wore a madris pattern. I'll also attach our '07 Christmas card our photographer did. My one son wore red and I liked it. Choose what your kids look best in.

Here's our photographer's website, you can check out some of her portfolio to get more ideas.

We just had our 1 year pictures done last week. I've taken the boys to JC Penny every month, but we went to Portrait Innovations for their 1 year pictures. I was pretty happy with them. I agree with Debbi, put them in whatever YOU think they look the best in. I've done it all... solids, stripes, nothing but diapers, etc. The pictures that I love the most are the ones where the boys are really smiling, laughing, and playing... no matter what they're wearing. Also, will the photographer let you bring different outfits in case you want to change them? Just a thought.

Here's a link to our 1 yr pics...

I've always had pictures taken from Sears since they were born and every three months since till they turned 1. Now I'll only have them taken once a year by themselves and at Christmas with their siblings or the family.

I took my grandsons to Portrait Innovations yesterday. I posted several pics in the Parents Club forum: http://www.twinstuff.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=76173

I was very pleased with Portrait Innovations. I took the boys to Picture People last summer and they were good too, but PI was just as good IMO and cost 1/2 as much. I got a ton of prints (way more than we needed but it's hard to turn down the cute poses!) for $170.

    Just a note ...
I took three different changes of clothes because I thought that would give us more options. I don't think I'd do that again because it was hard to match up the best pictures of them individually (ie: one boy's best was in stripes, the other boy's best pic was in his big brother shirt1). Next time we'll stick with just one or maybe two outfits, three was going overboard. (But that's how this Grammy is!)

Hey, I do this for a living. I usually tell clients to bring solid color clothes, polo's work great for boys. Hats are WONDERFUL, some of my cutest pictures of babies/kids are with oversized cowboy hats, baseball hats, etc. I have done pics of little kids in oversized dress clothes (like they are playing dress up) that have turned out super cute. I agree with bibs, especially on boys with no shirt underneath, super cute. Most of the pictures that I take though are outside and I can control what looks best with their outfits. Prints, stripes, etc. are a photographers worse nightmare :) Sometimes for girls especially, polka dots can be cute, but you must have a solid background color of black or white. Also - make sure they are comfortable, or it will make for a long photo session. Hope this helps...

Oh, when I do shoots of my twin boys... they are usually just in jeans and a polo :)

I just had all 3 of my girls done last week for the twins' 3rd b-day and Olivia's 3 month pics. There are TON of them, so beware :) I dressed them all 3 in coordinating striped dresses on a white background...I think they turned out adorable!!!

Here is mine from last year. I haven't been daring enough to take them out again this year. I may do it myself as they seem more relaxed that way and I love my camera!

My dad is a photographer too and always told us to stay away from stripes and patterns too...
