I was admitted for possible PTL and a shortened/funneled cervix last week. I'm normally seen at the local military hospital but because of my complications, I was sent to a Women's/Children's hospital where all the peri's are and where there's a NICU. During my stay, my peri wanted an indepth ultrasound. The first scan shoed that Baby A looked good but they wanted to take a closer look at B because of the mapping of the vessels in her umbilical cord (which could possibly impact the hook ups to the heart). I had another scan the next day and B's heart looked perfectly fine but it looked like her liver and spleen weren't exactly where they should be. The doctor said he wasn't to worried...he just wanted to keep an eye on this. My next scan isn'y for 3 weeks and I am on edge because of the threatened PTL.

Has anyone else had abnormal scans that turned out to be perfectly fine? I know that it's more difficult to get clear scans on 2 babies. This has been such a stressful week!

I'm sorry, I've never heard of that kind of problem before...Hopefully it was just an "off" scan...and hopefully your body calms down and holds those babies in for awhile longer. I do have a friend who was funnelling and after she went on bedrest managed to hold on for about 6 more weeks....

I had an u/s tech see some extra fluid on baby B's heart...with a peri scan it was concluded to be perfectly fine. One thing they kept saying, "as they get bigger, it is harder to tell when something is normal or not." They have to look at the organ/fluid etc.... many different times and ways because they said at this gestation (I was around 30 weeks at the time) EVERYTHING can look abnormal if looked at the wrong way.

Just something positive to think about. I hope all is well!

We had an abnormal finding at our level 2 abou three weeks ago. We were really upset and don't go back until next Wednesday for another. I know how scared you feel, and all I can tell you is that I reassured myself by thinking that while advances in technology are wonderful, sometimes we don't need to know (worry) about things we would not have know even 20 years ago. Good Luck and try to stay positive!

I had an abnormal scan which turned out to be tech error. She input my last period as March 6 instead of March 13. So all my measurements came back small and the abdominal and head measurements were less than the 10th percentile. My doc talked to me all about growth restriction and scared the crap out of me. By the next u/s 2 wks later...that tech realized what went wrong...everything was fine.

I hope your next scan goes well.
