We recently switched from the liquid to the solutabs for our 8 mth old ds. The Doctor also upped his dosage. Since the switch, I feel he is having more trouble than he was. He has silent reflux so hard to tell for sure. Have a call in with the Doctor to get her opinion. Just wondering did anyone else have the same issue? Thanks!

We have been on the solutabs since the beginning, but we have never had any problems. How long ago was the switch? What is leading you to believe that he is having more trouble? Maybe his body just needs a little time to adjust. Its good that you called the pedi just to be sure. Reflux is so hard!

DS takes 30mg of Prevacid solutabs. We split it up & give him 15mg in the morning & 15mg at night. It's worked really well for him so far. After we started on it though, he did quit eating for a week or two. We switched formulas (from Similac Neosure to Enfamil AR Lipil) and now he's back to eating happily.

It seemed to take us a while after the "switch" for it to really work. So hang in there and see what the pedi says. GL

My two were also on the solutabs and it worked great for them. We switched to them from prevacid, as prevacid did not work for them. Mine did not have silent reflux, my oldest DD did.

The Prevacid solutabs have dairy in them, the liquid does not. If your DS has a milk protein intolerance, the solutabs could cause him problems. If Prevacid doesn't work for you, ask to switch to Prilosec. One of my DDs was on Zantac, then Prevacid, and neither worked. When we switched to Prilosec and I eliminated dairy from my diet (I was breastfeeding), her reflux got significantly better.

What are the symptoms? Could it be that they are just teething or something. Are they constipated? Just wondering if it is something else that could be bothering them.

Thanks for all the replies! I looked online last night and discovered that it seems pretty important to give the prevacid solutabs on an empty stomach. I had not been doing that - the Dr never said anything. The liquid had been working (it was just hard to get into him) so we are going to switch back to it. Hopefully that will help. He freaks out anytime we try to lie him on his back - changing him etc. Thanks again for the feedback.
