Prevacid

My girls are now on Prevacid. 1/2 teaspoon twice a day.
I read another post a few weeks ago and everyone seems to be on some kind of prevacid tabs. Mine is liquid. I just put the dropper on top
and pull 1/2 tsp. out. I filled the prescription at Target. Are my girls on something different than everyone else?

 

Mine were on the Prevacid Solutabs (15mg tabs) taking 1/2 tablet dissolved in 4 mls of water and then using the syringe to squirt it in the sides of their mouth.

 

Molly is on the strawberry Solutab - 15mg.

 

My girls are also on the 15mg Solutab.

 

We are on the 15mg solutabs, too. Didn't even know they had liquid. Boy would that have been easier early on!

 

Mine have always been on the solutab, except when in the hospital, the cheaper alternative is a suspenion the pharmacist can make. I'm told it tastes awful but as long as you mix it really well prior to drawing it up it can work just as well. The solutabs are the method of choice of many GI's because they are encapsulated granuales. I didn't check age but the granuales can only be given once the child reached one month.

If you have trouble giving the solutab, just put the half or cut the solutab with a pill cutter and put it in a syringe then pull up the water to mix and just swish in the syringe and give. You just have to give it a few second to make sure it dissoves so it doesn't clog the tip of the syringe. I wish the pharmacists would pass that along!

 

Mine had a powder packet (granuals) that was 15 mg. I poured 2 oz of water in a cup and stirred the powder in.
