I have read so many good stories about success on Prevacid... please share with me how quickly you noticed a difference once starting Prevacid. We have tried Zantac & Reglan, with no luck... and now Jake is on Prevacid, as of yesterday. He has been refusing feeds and unable to sleep adequately... so, we're really distressed about this.. not to mention the fact that he is in PAIN!!

I am desperate to get my baby relief, and worried that this new drug isn't working either.

    Thanks!

At 9 weeks my boys were diagnosed with reflux. I remember that every day after the first day of them taking prevacid, they began to get a little better. I just saw in my notes now though that around 12 weeks their reflux got bad again. (I dont remember that though so it must not have gotten that much worse). I remember being so happy that their reflux syptoms were gone after the medicine kicked in. I hope it works for you. Around 9 months, theie reflux was gone. But again, it was a nonissue after the prevacid kicked in. I hope it works for your babies.

They slept in their carseats and swing until 4 1/2 months.

Both of our girls have reflux and they've been on Prevacid for at least 5-6 months. It probably took about a week to 10 days to really notice results, but once it started working it has made an enormous difference!! Our GI told us to be patient with the Prevacid because, depending on the child, it could take up to 2 weeks. It's worked wonders though! Their reflux did get a little worse around 5 months, but that only lasted a short time...now, I think they're almost grown out of it at 9 months.

It can take up to 2 weeks, hang in there. :hug99: If he is not any better after a week or so, I would definitely call the ped.

Both our boys took it starting at about 8 weeks and it took a good 7 days or so for the relief! Hang in there.

Sorry you're going through this. Reflux is really te pits and we're still taking meds for it at 5 months. We started getting some relief after 2-3 days but really saw results after about a week. HUGS! Hope things get better soon!

I noticed the girls getting better after a week or so of prevacid. Hang in there! I know it's frustrating waiting for it to work. By around 7 months we got over the reflux, but until that point prevacid pretty much took care of their symptoms.

I can't remember how long it took but we also used mylanta (or gaviscon) in the meantime. That made a HUGE difference! Our doc suggested the gaviscon in the beginning. It made me nervous to give them an adult meds but seeing them in pain made me relent. I couldn't find anything about it online until I realized that gaviscon is the same thing as mylanta. It makes a big difference when they won't eat because of the reflux. The prevacid works so well we rarely use it anymore-- maybe once or twice a week when they "flare".

I'd call your ped and ask them. We use the mylant supreme (mint flavor-- no red dye) and give 1 ml.

We used the Mylanta also. It was the Mylanta Cherry Supreme. I also gave 1ml. It helped.
