At their 6 month, their ped said the week before their 9 month app to stop the prevacid and see how they do. That way at the app, we can talk about it. I am nervous to stop it but excited at the same time. I hope it goes well and I dont see any reflux signs. I wonder how it will be now that they are eating food and they wont have any prevacid. Well, we shall see how it goes!!!

I was also told by 6 months the problem 'should' be resolved... and they should be able to go without it, but if not it was okay to give it to them. I quit giving Jack his Zantac at about 7 months, and he did fine. Infact he has only had probably 3 attacks since then.

Good luck, I can understand the nervousness! I don't think we are quite ready to go off the meds yet! :hug99:

We're going back to the GI specialist at 6 months too. I think we're starting to wean and go down to 1 dose (1/2 tab) a day instead of 2. I kind of want to continue until 7-9 months. My oldest was a major (happy) spitter upper and stopped from one day to another at 7 1/2 months.

Yup, we take prevacid until about 9 months.
Can't wait until my twins are off it :)

    Becky,
Well, I think they are doing good. The reason I say, 'I think' is because they have been so darn fussy these past couple days. I do think it is a coincidence. The fussiness can be teething or the fact that we have been out a lot lately and naps have been in the car or stroller. The reason I dont think it is reflux is because if they are fussy and I hold them they are fine and if it was reflux, I would think they would continue to cry.

When they drink their milk and eat their food, they do so without stopping and I see no crying or arching during that time. If it was reflux, I would see signs during that time right?

I will see how today goes, we have no plans so will be staying home. Thanks for asking. Any thoughts though???

Probably a coincidence, it's so hard to tell. I would definately see how they do today with staying at home. Do they still spit up at all? Jake still spits up, Emma has never been a big spitter.

They actually never spit up. I also wanted to add that when they are around other people or are being entertained 100% of the time, they are so happy. Did you notice around this age that they become more high maintance.? I feel like they are bored with our house (I know I am!) but then when we go out, they are thrown off!

I will definately keep my eye on them today for reflux signs. I think today being day 4 with no meds that I should see signs if it still remains. I was wondering the other day how long the effects of the meds stay in their body. For example, if they had meds on thur, how long before they wear off?

I don't know how long it would stay in their systems? Seems like not very long. I think I read that babies (ahhh, I can't think of the word!)use? meds like that more rapidly than adults do. It sounds like they are going to be fine. Honestly, I think Emma would be fine to go off of her meds, but Jake is still spitting up, so I don't think he would.

And yes! Very high maintenance at that age! I think there is just so much that they want to do, but can't! I agree that taking them out makes them happy for the time being, but then they are all out of whack when you get home...we can't win!

Let me know how it goes!

It is good to hear that they seem to be doing better even without meds! Gives me hope. My ds is still on the meds and I am scared to take him off. Good luck, I hope they keep on doing good without them!!!
