after an extremely stressful (dog to the vet, possible hip dysplasia, ruled out hip dysplasiawith xrays, noted possible ELBOW dysplasia, Police drug bust RIGHT outside the vet hospital...) day today, I went to the hospital after having one HUGE contraction, and major downward pressure. The doc checked me and determined that i was 1 cm dilated, but 0% effaced. She also noticed that baby A's head had dropped so far down that it was actually causing my uterus to be LOWER than my cervix. She estimated it wouldn't take long before labour set in. She wasn't able to give us a time table of course but she said it definately wouldn't be a month or even 3 weeks. That makes me think shes talking in terms of days. Has this happened to anyone else? if so.. how long after did your labour start? i've just been having lots of braxton hicks contractions today, and when I was at the hospital they did an NST and the heart rates were stable and un changing through the braxtons. Should I be phoning my husband to come home from camp NOW? or should I wait? My first pregnancy ended in a 7.5 hour labour, and Im worried this one will be lightning fast. UGH I just don't know what to do. I wish there was some way they could tell us how long it will be!

 How far away is the camp your hubby is at? If it is pretty far, I would probably call him to come home because you really just never know. In the meantime, take it easy and drink plenty of water. Also, be sure to call your Dr right away if anything changes. Good Luck!!

I agree with the PP. Rest and take it easy and call your DH! I knew I was dilating as I had mild AF cramping and the pressure on my cervix was unbelievable. I had an induced VB and 2 days before I delivered I was 2cm dilated. I also lost my mucous plug the night before delivery so I knew I was close. I was 37 weeks along. GL to you!

DH's camp is a 4 hour drive away. We are really strapped tight for finances at the moment because we went thru the loss of our DS in October and neither of us worked again until he went back in January. I don't want to call him home unless It's gonna happen soon. we need the money.
I made a doctors appointment for noon today , so hopefully he will be able to tell me a little bit more of whats going on. Ever since yesterday, Its been incredibly painful to move. The under part of my belly is so sore it feels like it ripped open during the big contraction I had. I also have alotof groin pressure, the tendons and ligaments that connect my legs to my torso feel inflamed and sore, and it makes walking to the bathroom almost unbearable. I hope its nothing, but I can't help but worry.

I'd call and let dh know it could be anytime. I probably wouldn't have him come home, just FYI him.

Then I'd go take it easy put your feet up and rest. You want those babies in there as long as possible. rest, rest, rest.

  Is there anyone who can hang out with you a bit and make you some meals to keep you off your feet a bit?
