The church where DD's preschool is at is in foreclosure. It is probably going up for auction in Dec or Jan. The preschool has no idea what will happen to them - if they will be able to continue with the new owners through the rest of the school year or if they will have to close until they find a new location. It is the church's preschool, but the director thinks they will relinquish the school once the building is sold. She loves her preschool and has been with most of the kids for the last year. There is a spot at another preschool in the area. I feel so disloyal, but we really need to do what is best for her. It is 4 days a week instead of 3 and it is cheaper. The only drawback is that it is in a different school disctrict so she will not go to Kindergarten with any of the other kids. Now I am thinking that it isn't as big of a deal since most of the kids she is in class with now will not go to her Kindergarten either.....

Would you ride out the storm with the current preschool or move on to the new one?

Although it might be hard on DD, I would say move to the new one. If you already know there is a spot open, and the current school has no idea what its fate is... you cant sit around and wait, and if they close, what if that spot at the other preschool is gone by then?? You have to do what is best for your family.. and if she wouldnt be attending kindergarten with any of the kids at either place, it wouldnt really be a big deal. I think she is probably old enough to understand.

That depends on if you are using the preschool as a "daycare" also or just for preschool. If it is just for preschool I would ride it out. It won't hurt your daughter that much if the preschool closes and she can't get in another one until kindergarten starts, especially if she has been attending for over a year. If you are using it as daycare, because you work, etc. I would switch right away, because you don't want to be stuck in a position where you don't have care for a few weeks, or something like that.

That is what I would do.

    I agree with TwinMuffin.

On a side note, that's very sad that a church is being foreclosed on.

I completely agree with Twinmuffin too.

If she does have to switch, the good thing is she is young and they make friends easier at that age.

I hope it all goes well for all of you!

I would move her to the new school. Either way, she's going to end up leaving the current school within the next month or two - with all the other kids leaving the existing preschool, the open spots in the other local preschools are likely to be filled soon.
