Brett has been in a small home daycare 2 days a week since he was 15 months and now he is turning 4 at the end of September. She teaches a preschool cirricullum....

About a month ago, I posted for suggesstions on whether or not to send Brett to preschool two mornings in addition to his 2 days at daycare or to Karate. Some of you might remember...

I decided to send him to preschool two mornings a week 9:30-12 & then I told my daycare provider.

My daycare providor thought that going to "school" at two different schools would be too hard. So, she suggested me sending him to her another full day and that she would include him in her Pre-K program. (She is stepping it up for 2 other kids to Pre-K this year since they start Kindgerten.

I decided to send him to her another day...

Do you think I made the right decision?

I think I would have stuck with the other preschool. A large part of preschool is social, and he would probably benefit more from being around a larger group of kids to get him ready for K, than just around 3-5 kids--especially if he is going into K next year. If you are doing 2 years before he goes to K, then I would think he is OK for this year, but would find a larger preschool for next year.

I would probably have gone with the other preschool as well. My guys stayed in a small home based group for a long time and it became really obvious that thier social skill were well behind the other kids in our circle. We moved them and have loved it ever since. They have tons of friends and have improved on the all to important skills of taking turns and sharing. I did not want to tackle those in kindergarten, ugh!

Hi. At 3 ish I did just what your daycare person said was not good. Dd was in preschool and I got a part time job so on 2 days a week she would go to psch 9-12 then I would pick her up there and drop her at daycare for 1-5. She THRIVED on the change! Some kids do not do well with such inconsistencies though. I do not think my boys would accept that. So it depends upon the child I think. GOOD LUCK!

He will at least go to Pre-K next year and probably 3 full days. He won't start K until September 2009.

I think you'll be fine, especially if he is going to do PreK next year, then K the following.

My son is in PreK due to needing speech therapy and I can't tell you the change that has come over him. He's learning so much from them, it's definitely been worth it for us.

Sounds to me like you're doing what's best for your family! Good job Momma!
