pregnant again... twins again? what are the odds?

So, My twins are 3 yrs old and I find myself pregnant again. What do you think the odds are that I won't have twins? lol or that I will? Here's my factors, whatcha think?

1 set of twins.
Mother had fraternal twins
Paternal grandmother had fraternal twins
overweight
33 years old.
6th pregnancy.

so... all of these are supposed to affect my odds... I guess I didn't seriously consider the possibility before I got pregnant again. lol. whew, ok, now that I've got that off my chest, I guess I just wait for an u/s right?

 

If it were me, I'd start thinking of another two "T" names! I don't know what the mathematical odds are though.

 

lol, Tiarya, Tiana or Tara for a girl. (crossing fingers... comeon pink)
for a boy... .uh, it'd better be a girl, we used up all the good boy names...

 

I think I"ve heard the odds are 1 in 20 (so out of 5 pregnancies, one will be twins I think). I bucked all odds and got pregnant with twins with no history. I guess, don't worry and wait for the ultrasound. If I was a betting person, I'd think it would just be one in there!

Congrats! My twins are also 3 and I'm expecting again, too...but I got two pinks...so sending you some girl luck, and you send me some of that amazing boy luck, eh? I have been wondering the same thing..about the odds...but I'd say your odds are way higher than mine...we had zero family history...my first appt. is next week, so I guess I'll know then. Keep us updated...when is your appt??

I get to see the Ob tommorrow, finally had pg confirmed by dr. yesterday. ... I went in 2 wks ago and said I'm pregnant, he did his test and said, no you aren't... I asked for blood test, he said nah, these tests are very accurate... he seemed a little sheepish yesterday lol. oh, and I'm due christmas day lol

Hoping they will do an u/s tommorrow. Haven't told hubby I'm pregnant yet, waiting till I know how many. lol, and he's been transferred to washington, been gone 3 wks now. lol didn't think he needed any more stress yet... figure to send him pic of u/s in mail to let him know. I keep trying to see if I can feel my uterus, cause with the last ones I got so big so quick, lol, not sure.

starting to get over the oh my heck how am I going to do this.. quick clip... hubby active duty navy transferred to WA April 20, 6 kids and I here in ID till I get the house sold.... dh will prolly be at sea when baby is born... considering teaching 14 yr old to drive for the trip to hospital... lol

 

I am not yet far enough along that they can tell if it is twins or not... only 5 wks, so there was just a sack in there. lol going back in 2 weeks, question is... do I wait till then to tell dh?

OMG! We have 3 girls now and maybe in about 3-4 years DH and I are going to try for a boy. Hee hee.

My grandmother had back to back twins!! Twins on both my mom and dads side. So I'm kinda scared. Lol. Scared that I'll have twins again and scared it might be 2 more girls!!! Lol.

 

Told dh. He was speechless. He just kept saying "wow" over and over. lol.

 

Sounds like my DH when I walked in with the positive test this time around.

I really don't understand how they couldn't tell? Should have at least been able to count gestational sacks? And why didn't they let me see the screen. lol. paranoia is me

 

Since you are a fraternal twin yourself, you have a higher chance that you will have twins, and also since you already have a set of twins, you have a higher chance as well. I dont remember the exact statistical numbers, but Im wondering since you have both of those in your favor, would you add them together to get the actual percentage chance that you will have another set??

 

Hi Trina, I don't know if you remember me, but I sold you the stroller when you had your twins...So you're coming back to WA? That is exciting! We are still here, I think we will be here his entire Naval career....

Congrats to you! I would think that at 5 weeks they could tell but I have heard of sacs "hiding" and people not finding out until later. keep us posted

 

I totally remember you Sara, lol, was excited when I saw you had replied I should send you pix of your stroller at Disneyland. lol. While I have no idea when the kids and I will be back up there, I really hope it's before I deliver. lol. We hope to complete our career up there too.

At this point I have 3 big factors pushing for mulitples, mom having twins, dad's mom having twins (either one gives me 1 in 17 chance of twins) and having had twins myself already. I don't know if you add all that together and just figure I'd better buy two more cribs, lol. I'd finally accepted about 9 months ago that we were really done and got rid of my baby stuff..... lol, best laid plans.

And well, I would think he could have just said, we saw x number of sacks but no heartbeats... instead he said they just couldn't tell. and he hemmed and hawed, talk about making me paranoid. lol, dh just keeps telling me I only have x number of days to wait. lol. I keep trying to see if I can feel my womb yet. keep asking myself... how many are in there. I am going to make myself crazy.

 

When do you go back for another ultrasound? I am so excited to hear how many are in there! I have heard a surefire way of getting pregnant again is getting rid of all of your baby stuff, lol.

We will have to keep in touch, I would love to meet up with you when you get out here. Are you planning to buy or are you going to go in base housing?

I go back on monday, and yeah, lol, me and my 7???? kids are gonna find a house on base. lol. sorry we are working on selling house here, the new stimulus package had stuff to help with selling the house, it looks like we are just out the down payment and any improvements plus 10k out of pocket if I can sell it...

Then well, ugh, hubby is on medical hold and they are actually going to give away his billet till they get it sorted which will be about 2 months... and then hopefully there will be a boomer he can get on, he thinks it looks good, the boats seem to be hurting for 1st classes. oh.. and while we are waiting they are taking away everything but base pay/bah/bas... ouchie.

We had counted on him re-upping this month to clear up debts and get us ready to get pre-qualified to buy a house up there... but as it stands we may end up having to rent for a while. not looking forward to that, have pets

Needless to say I'm overloaded and going crazy.. Did I mention I get to fly to New Mexico for a child support hearing with the X-husband on tuesday? lol, so U/s on monday court on Tuesday.

Where does your hubby work again? Tom's up with the Master-at-arms up in Bangor right now. so much fun! I have prolly made you crazy by now. lol

 

Oh, wow, they are going to cut his pay for 2 months??? That isn't right at all! Is there anything he can do? The Navy is so lovely....Grrrr! I sure hope you are able to sell your house quickly and not lose any money!

My DH is a MT on the USS Maine. And yes, the boats are really hurting for first classes right now! I think there is only 1 other first class in his division right now, which is crazy. He works really long, crazy hours now, it really sucks.
