This is driving me nuts! I was just wondering if I was the only one with it. I have dark hair and dark eyes and I alwyas had normal to medium skin tone (not real dark, but tan pretty easily). Every since I had the boys the skin on my upper lip is really dark, it looks like I have a mustache and I hate it. I also have a few other patches on my face and I am starting to get self concious. For anyone who has it, is there anything that gets rid of it?

Go to one of the upscale cosmetic counters.....Clinique, Estee Lauder, Lancome....one of the beauty specialist will be able to tell you just what you need...I had that happen going through my IVF treatment....with the hormones that I had to take....that is what did it to me. I will warn you the stuff isn't cheap...but it does indeed work!

    Good luck,

    Missy

It is definitely the hormones that do it! I have a few small patches, not so much the "mask." The creams haven't worked really well but they do lighten the spots somewhat!

I got it with my 3rd, and it has since faded. He is now 3!

you may want to look into getting ipl (intense pulsed light treatments)... I had it done by a dermatologist for rosacea and it was very effective. Apparently it's also effective for cholasma and getting rid of freckles. Those medspa places sell packages of treatments. Just make sure you go to a good place, where you can trust the doctor. The treatments improve your skin in other ways too... I was extremely happy with my results!

It's called Melasma or 'The Mask Of Pregnancy' http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000836.htm also can be brought on by using BC pills.

I'm still pregnant and have it really bad!!! It also makes me very self concious! My friend who works at a Med-Spa suggested going to a Dermatolgist after I deliver and getting a product to lighten the skin containing Glyquin. http://www.essentialdayspa.com/eldoquin-glyquin.htm

She did mention that most likely after I deliver that these dark areas would either go away or lighten up but if not then to get some of the cream. I don't think this cream is to be used if you are breast-feeding though and definetly not if you are pregnant. She also said it is VERY importnat to put a high SPF cream on these areas when in the sun so they will not darken even more.

As of now, the best thing I've found to lighten these spots is a yellow conceler stick under my foundation. http://www.ulta.com/control/product/~product_id=2050786
It does a decent job of covering or at least making these dark areas less noticeable! I just hope that they go away after I deliver because I hate it!!!!

Hope you find something that works for you!

Hang on a minute!!!!!! Are you telling me that this can stay after I have the babies!!!!!!! OH NOOOOOOOO!!! I am pretty pale normally so it looks pretty dark, like I have been to the solarium and it's white around my hair line. I thought it would go away one I gave birth!
